The  map resolution in GO4 v4.2.21 defaults to about 40kim from edge to edge of my tablet screen and you need to zoom in everytime you change from the camera view to map view, a few versions back the app used to remember the zoom level even when exiting and restarting the app, why was this changed? can it be brought back in  the next release?

Seems they have fixed the map playout issue. And iOS is at v4.2.22 already since 29th June. General improvement are mentioned, but I'm not sure what they mean by that.

But this DJI GO 4 app version still does not memorize the setting you use when viewing the map... I personally like the SATTELITE view, but since a few versions DJI GO 4 does not keep this setting in memory and I have to change the view every time...

Just got Android v2.224 and the problem is NOT fixed.

Android Version 4.3.0 and still no improvement

Are they never going to fix this problem?

Probably not. They do not seem interested in map changes.

You need to understand that DJI have to purchase a license to use map footage, then everytime a DJI drone owner opens the app and it brings up a map image, the counter on the map site ticks over. At the end of the month, DJI are presented with a bill for the use of the maps.

Understandably, as DJI are not getting one cent from the user for this, they may be reluctant to use expensive map services like Google, so they go for ones that are either free or very cheap. As a result, the map performance is entirel;y consistent with cheap or free maps.

Not sure who they use atm but "here maps"  api are not  free, upto 1 mill clicks its $449 over 1m then no idea as its tailored to corporate
I dread to think how much google is, they allow the 1st $200 for free each month so i bet its a stinger and a half :/ shame, they got a bit greedy

Google have the best maps, so naturally they are expensive. I have a website that uses them, but as it is a not-for-profit site, I was able to get a free deal. But it took a lot to get there.

They are using Mapbox but I don't see what  that has to do with the Apps ability remember what the user has set the zoom level to when switching between the camera window and the map window.
