Is there a way to set the drone to RTH ON any error happening during flight .

For example , lost visuals, lost signal, gimbal overload, etc etc .

Many user would probably want this option, instead of having to deal with the other more stressful senarios.

This would also help DJI when trying to evaluate what went wrong from flyaways etc since in most cases theres no reason to continue flying when this happends .

That's not possible. The drone will not RTH until the remote controller signal disconnects. If the remote controller is still connected and you feel it's important to RTH, then you should initiate it manually.

To add some information, just flew and lost signal and the drone wouldnt RTH even when that option was checked. So no visual, no connection and no auto RTH.

So maybe a super RTH , when everything else isnt working . Top of the cream RTH with a checklist of errors you want to trigger it?

No its wasnt possible . No connection no communication!
After several attemps i manage to reconnect and then get the drone to respond to RTH. This included restart of GS multiple Times .
So my point is , wouldnt it be better to have the safety programmed into the drone earlier ? Then to , yeah right just push the RTH when everythings lost , as recomended earlier. Love the besser wisser attitude here on the forum. All proffesionals with no problem whats so ever . Havent you read the manual as a standard comment .

So DJI after a user poll here at the forum we think it would be good to have some more option when RTH SHOULD KICK IN. Let us choose ourself. Its all for safety same as the return to home beep. We dont want to push our luck to hard .

Also can we lock the drone never to go above country max elevation allowed. For example now Im in Italy but can still fly 500m in height but maximum limit is 70m . This needs to be controlled . For safety offcourse .

Hi, thanks for the inquiry, there will be there types of RTH function on our drone, the Smart RTH, Low battery RTH and failsafe RTH function. Those function can be used and triggered when specific scenario occurs depending on the situation. Please see the details below.

- The Smart RTH function which will allow you to command to bring back your aircraft intentionally using the RTH button on the RC as long as there will be enough GPS signal and the aircraft will sense obstacles on its flight path during.
- The low battery RTH will be triggered when the DJI Intelligent Flight Battery is depleted to a point that may affect the safe return of the aircraft. I would advise returning the drone immediately when it's occur
- If the Home Point was successfully recorded and the compass is functioning normally, this function will be automatically activated if the remote signal is lost for a specific amount of time (3 seconds when using the remote controller), you can override this process once the RC regain the control to the drone.

We could inform our R&D engineers regarding with your suggestion to see if could possibly add it to our RTH functions. Thank you for interest.

Have you ever made yourself familiar with any of the settings in DJI GO 4? Almost all you are asking for is available. If you choose the correct setting, RTH will automatically kick in if connection to the RC is lost (not for visual loss of connection though). And maximum height is a very simple setting too. Please make yourself familiar with it.

Lol and "read the manual".  It may seem like lame advice but is VERY relevant to most of the "DJI sucks" posts.

This all sounds a bit ridiculous, do you want dji to remove RTH button, if you never take off, you’ll always be at home and never have any problems. I think it’s a kite your looking to fly, just make sure string is strong enough.

So where do we start?
RTH max height should be controlled by the country your in. Period. But understand its a sensitive question to ask for.
I know it can be set but do you trust all users to follow this ? End of.
Next one: if visuals is lost why even bother to continue flying if you are recording or taking photos. End of.
So an option to have the user decide when to RTH , wouldnt be such a bad idea. Hence if your fine flying blind , its your option.
RTH as is today is great when its working as supposed. Its not great when signals lost, rc tries to reconnect 50 Times and your drone its still flying with automated flight and RTH doesnt kicken in.
So suggestion of adding are fail safe RTH , would be in place where you can decide what should trigger it. End of.
As for the flight log, here comes the more surprising part, the log only saved the part from where I managed to connect and where flying back home again. The part from start to the connection lost is missing. Im fine providing any flight data to DJI but not for you Im afraid. Why ? Since you cant really do anything about it. End of.

Lastly , thanks DJI for understanding and can see the benefit of having a more custom RTH function.
