Hi. In general, with no interference, you should do better with 2.4 GHz.  If you are in urban places with more interference, you may very well do better with 5.8 GHz.

Your Mavic Rc works only on 2.4 GHZ (occusync).
I think the 5.8 is without controller, on wifi

Yes, in the DJI GO 4 menu. In an area with FCC transmission standard I would fly with 5,8 Ghz because this band is much less vulnerable to interference from other WiFi networks and has the same range as 2,4 Ghz.
In Europe however, where the CE standard applies the 5,8 Ghz band is much weaker and therefore significantly reduces the range.

I have not seen much difference with range at 5.8GhZ. The video signal does tend to be more consistent with 5.8Ghz in urban areas. If you go out of range. It won't make much of a difference.

The safest bet it the use the app video feed as reference and capture the footage straight the drone/card every time. Monitor your wifi, weather, and GPS signals. As always don't fly too far in the city. Or you will be flying blind.
