So almost two years in and 250 miles covered with my Mavic Pro and no real issues at all and I some how ( completely pilot error BTW ) have managed to get it stuck at the top of a 60 foot tree in the middle of nowhere.

I have to give the DJI Find My Drone tool full marks as it took me right to the tree it was in and I was able to turn on the flashing LED and Buzzer.

My only option for recovery is to knock it out of the tree with something as it is impossible to get to it.

The Mavic did exactly what it was supposed to do and stopped itself flying into the tree BUT the pilot ( ie ME ) was not thinking and instead of just reversing out of trouble I flew up through the tree Doh! A moment of madness.

That's unfortunate to hear,I would suggest you contact your local department and ask them to get it for you. After that, you can contact us and start up a case:  (https://www.dji.com/support?site=brandsite&from=nav). You can provide you case number if you need further assistance. I can also check the serial number of your drone to check the warranty status.

Buy an axe and recover the MP

This looks like a potential option however I am trying to limit any further damage to the Mavic

I am very sorry for your accident and wish you good luck for the recovery. Maybe you could ask the local fire brigade? They could run it as a drill and you pay them a round in the pub as reward?

The fire brigade sounds good, can you persuade your cat to climb tree and sit beside Mavic ?

Or a helium balloon on a long string with a hook or net underneath :-)

There was a big blimp in London recently that would've worked not sure if that was helium or hot air though ;-)

Try calling a tree climber

Have chainsaw, will travel. No really, I'm sorry to hear that mate. Hope you can find someone who can rescue your MP for the tree.

Call a tree trimmer.  Agree with Woe.

Hi Anthony, that’s tough to hear, if you have Care refresh , you could just shoot it down , so long as you have something to send back to dji, you should be ok ;+)....

So I have the Mavic back  ......  it needs fixing but I'm OK with that.

My version of the above drone rescue tool worked perfect .....  highly recommended

My repair is all booked just waiting for the lable and I'll send it out on Monday

I have used this service before for a warranty repair and it was first class.

I have created a repair request and I am just waiting for the lable, as for my warrenty status my drone is it is 18 months old and my dji refresh will have ran out by now as it only lasts twelve months ...

Glad that worked.  I was thinking Bow & Arrow setup for fishing.
For future, should limb prove to be to strong to get drone shook loose from.
They make a rope pulled chain-saw used for tall tree limb pruning, and hunters for setting up deer stands.

Heartfelt congratulations! I am happy that you got it back and it can be repaired.

Any shaking will probably dislodge the drone earth bound causing damage to your drone as well as your wallet. Someones going to have to climb and retrieve it.  

Ask a local tree surgeon. May just charge $50 bucks or so.

Got my Mavic out of a tree with this setup.

had that problem with the first drone I owned,  was a cheap drone but I managed to get it out of the tree by shooting the limb off with my 12 gauge shotgun loaded with slugs,  worked out good, and I live in a remote area, would not dare attempt that in a populated area.

Right my Mavic Pro is now on its way to Holland for a bit of needed TLC ......  fingers crossed it's fixable  

Morons grow bamboo everywhere. Seriously, there’s enough of it growing around here that I could build a huge scaffold if necessary. But really, here’s what I did where a friend got a glider caught in a high tree. We got 10 long stalks of bamboo. I had a pulley, string and duct tape. I attached the pulley to the top of the first stalk, made a slip knot loop to snag the aircraft. I just pushed the bamboo up and taped the next stalk to it, repeat until you get to the aircraft. Shake it and get the loop hooked to the aircraft. Push the bamboo up higher until it’s above the branches. Pull the string to lift the aircraft out of the tree. If you can move the bamboo until the aircraft can be lowered without getting snagged, that’s best. Otherwise, just slowly pull and undo your creation trying not to get snagged as you go.

Well my Mavic Pro made it to Holland in good time and in less than 24 hrs from it arriving it had been assessed and I had recieved the repair quote. .....  first class response from these guys.

Good job, dji service in Europe is becoming very dependable, hope your back flying soon.
