Photos and Video Not Saving to SD Card

After updating to the latest firmware I can no longer take pictures or video. Everytime I try it acts like it is going to but then the dji logo appears at the end of the black screen and it goes back to regular flight mode screen and nothing has been saved to the SD Card. Any ideas???

I'm really sorry to hear that. May I know what kind of SD card you are using? Can you provide a video  while your are taking picture or video  so that we can check it on our end? You can upload it using google-drive or Dropbox and provide the link here. Thanks for your support.

I'm using a Sandisk Ultra Plus. I've tried two new cards, a 32gb and a 64gb with the same results. I'll try to add a video in a couple of days when I get back.

That disk is not fast enough. Use it somewhere else and get a Sandisk Extreme Pro card instead.

Yea you definitely need a new sdcard pref class 3! I would try that also before contacting dji

I bought the drone two days ago from a friend and everything worked but he told me it needed updated. Sounds like a made a mistake buying the wrong card. This is actually quite a relief because everything else was pointing to a bad camera board.

Well, Just tried a Sandisk Extreme Plus and had the same results. Shutter sound, black screen, then the DJI logo and the camera reboots without anything being saved to the card. Here is a link to a video I made while trying the new card. DJI Camera Fail

Please don't confuse the issue, the lens cap has nothing to do with the problem. It is like saying a car won't start because the windscreen is dirty.

Try selecting another image size/movie resolution to save your captures.  Select the smallest and least taxing setting and try again, see if that is any different.

Can you try to restore the camera setting to factory defaults? You can also try to format the sd card directly to a PC  using a card reader but make sure to back up your files first.

Others have had it as well and I have not seen any reason given by anyone for it. I asked guy at DJI and his answer was the typical - Send it in for checking ... No thanks !!

But I have to say your card is only good for 1080 use ..... higher res - you should get a warning note appear that Card is not fast enough. But I assume from your post that you do not get that warning ... just the black screen.

If you are a newcomer to the Phantom - I think you are brave to buy a camera setup and consider fitting it yourself. I wish you luck and success. Personally I would have gone back to the 'friend' and asked him to demo the machine or explain .... or at least do the right thing and assist with sorting it out ...
I don't sell to friends personally unless they insist .. I don't like risking the friendship if things go wrong ...

I appreciate your info and concern Nigel. He didn't offer me anything other than advice which didn't work. I'll know next time. On the other hand, I replaced the entire camera and gimbal and it now works perfectly. Was able to get the camera from a DJI parts company in Wisconsin for $350 U.S. with free shipping off of Ebay. I now have almost as much into this drone as a new on would have cost but the only good side to this is that his battery reads that it has only been charged 6 times so the drone has very little use. I am a certified newbie to this sport. This is my first drone and the first time flying but thankfully I'm a quick learner and a decent troubleshooter with plenty of tech experience. The camera swap was a piece of cake that pretty much anybody could do and long as you are not replacing the cables and even that isn't too bad. Let's hope this camera lasts a long time lol!!!

I found it strange all the camera settings read N/A. Obviously it was a bad camera. That's why it got sold. Some "friend!"
