I just thought I’d post here to share my experience in obtaining mandatory liability insurance for travel in Europe - specifically for me, flying in Germany and Switzerland where insurance is mandatory.
I spent several ing to find a way to insure your drone for the required $1m liability with no success. I finally found 2 options:
1.The International Drone Racing Asscociation who offered annual US$1m liability insurance for US$265 or AU$320
https://www.idra.co/
2. Shielded Insurance who offered a annual AU$5m liability policy for AU$365

Note these policy cover Anywhere in the World except the United States of America, Canada and their respective protectorates and territories.
I went with the Shielded insurance option as at least their Australia based and provided a more comprehensive product disclosure statement prior to me pushing the button on the policy. $360 isn't cheap but there's no point in even owning my Mavic if I can't take it on holiday and use it for filming some amazing places.
This webpage was very helpful to find out the requirements for the countries you are looking to fly in:

Note I also purchased a 30mmx17mm laser cut aluminium badge (fireproof) for $17 for my Mavic from a local engraver as again this is mandatory in Germany.

Other options that failed:
Coverdrone - Apple APP that allows you to insure by the hour (around $15/hr) - but only available if you are based in the UK. I called them and they are looking at offering a worldwide app in the future - mayb end of 2018?
Verify - Apple APP - that allows you to insure by the hour - but only available if you live in the US
HDI Global - only insure in Germany
All the other drone insurerers in Australia only offer insurance to commercial drone pilots with a RePL (Remote Pilot Licence)
I hope that helps someone out as I had almost given up on insurance and was about to leave the Mavic at home.
