Does the phantom 4 V2 have the ability to zoom the camera ??

No it doesn't. Maybe the upcoming Phantom 5 will have that feature.

Zoom ability, has been on the minds of us, since the inception of the Phantom...

Yes, it would be awesome, but then the paranoid folks, will have ammunition to project towards us...

If you require that camera functionality, then a much pricier drone would need to be acquired.

Hello there. Thank you for reaching DJI Forum. We will confirm this with our engineers. Your patience will be much appreciated.

If it does happen.....It will not be a true  ZOOM.
It will prob be sim to most electronic digital equipment.
It would be cool I'd be interested in seeing just how everyone would use it
DJI makes professional grade equipment that can be rigged with full sized DSLR's and Better video equipment.
I think most folks outgrow the Phantom platform and think of all sorts of upgrades for it and then cry like hell when
the firmware becomes...."BLOTED"
I'm starting to look really close at the Inspire series.....Maybe in a year or so when they upgrade that platform....Just
some thought's bouncing around in my tiny head.....

There are two ways of adding a zoom featue. The simplest is to make it an electronic zoom, that simply crops the image to make it larger. This approach has the disadvantage that it progressively reduces the resolution on th image.

The better approach uses a proper zoom lens, but it also has disadvantages. The lens is heavier, so that means a re-design of the gimbal system to take the extra weight. It also uses more power, so reduces flight time. It has to be a power zoom, so that adds complexity, cost, weight and power consumption. Being able to zoom in also means the gimbal will either not work as well in stabilising the image when zoomed in, or a better gimbal will need to be designed.

Then there is the moral issue of people using the aircraft to spy on others, so DJI would have to consider whether they want to damage the reputation of drones in general by doing so.

Awe come on,  Geoff, Spend the money, buy the bigger bird...


Why dance around the fire about the possibilities. Put up the cash. Mortgage the house if you have too. Haha

It’s only a great investment and imagine the obvious advantages...

AceCore have this Zoe drone out now...



But my favourite of theirs, is still the AceCore Neo.
