Hi there ! I trying to set up IR cable on my sony a6500 but still it is not working with my camera ( rec button ). I am turn on control camera in settings as well .

I sort of have that issue with my a6300.  It works sometimes but not all the time...   I've had the best luck with the IR probe about 1/2 inch from the IR receiver on the camera, and make sure you don't confuse it with the focus light.  The IR receiver is on the front of the grip right under the shutter trigger.

Yeah i know I arelady done it nothing works but i decided to play like mike giver and well i set up my pilot int ronin lol.

Hi there, sorry for the troubles with the IR cable, please make sure the cable was mounted properly, please point the infrared light to the camera's receiver vertically, keep the distance within 1-3cm, and it is recommended to use the small hook and loop strap to secure the cable just avoid moving during the shooting, here is the picture for your reference.

Just to verify, by 'turn on control camera in settings', do you mean you have turned on the Remote function in camera? If yes, it could be the problem of IR receiver or IR cable, do you have another camera for a test?

It is only one what i have. Remote control is on and sony remote is working so its not the problem with camera ..

Hi did anyone succeeded in making it work with a SOny a6500 ? I have 2 a6500 and the IR/IS  doesn't work on neither of both cameras. I have made sure the remote control option is on, and the IR/IS Cable is pointing at the receiver on the grip.
But it doesn't work. Morko 121, could you explain you mounted the Sony remote control on the Ronin S ? And it still work even if it is not in front of the camera ?

Hi there ! yeah its work only if push it a little bit forward or completly turned it ,but works .. how I mounted? I used old hang for coat I cuted it and make a holes for screws
and put a part of wrap on it. I used small part of wrap as well for  remote (use glue to put it together) lol but would be nice if maybe some admin respond ..

But what's cool with your setting is that you can also control other things.

Yeah its working now here as well. I take it off anyway xD its look bad I mean if you doing some professional job you dont want to go out with broken part from coat hang mounted to your gimbal lol but for testing works perfect. this is my set up now
