What is the minumum SD card write speed needed to insure the Mavic 2 Pro will record flawlessly in it's highest settings. I have a whole bunch of old Lexar 1000x cards that I used in my old drone because of their insane read speeds, but they only write at about 40MB/s will they be fine when I purchace my new Macic 2 Pro?

30 MB/s is the min for 4k recording if I remember correctly.

Do you remember from other 4K cameras, or from what you know about the Mavic 2 Pro? I would imagine with the 10 bit Dlog-M color profile, it may use the memory very fast while in 4K.

The bitrate is 100mbit... so, anything that can sustain 12.5MB/s write speed should be fine...?

Well I guess those SD cards will work well. Thought I read somewhere that the new Mavic 2 has high bit rate capabilities? 100 mbit/s doesn't sound high to me. They must compress the hell out of the data. Now that I think about it, I think the old Mavic Pro's bit rate was 60mbits/s. Doesn't add up to me when the 1 inch sensor is 4 times the size and capturing 4 times the colour spectrum? I'm not doubting you, I'm just trying to wrap my head around it all.

This is from the M2P user manual:

https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... ser+Manual+V1.0.pdf

Also found this:

U1 cards are recommended for 1080p video recording and have minimum write speeds of at least 10 MB/s; U3 is required for 4K video and designates a minimum write speed of 30 MB/s

Thanks. I just found that in the manual too (seconds before you posted it). The manual sounds like it was written in Chinese and poorly translated. Never heard a card rated "Grade 3" but we can assume they mean U3. Those Lexar cards that I have are are the slow end of U3. Most other U3 cards like Sandisk test with much higher write speeds.

Sorry for the troubles, please refer to the 6# to check first. As for the manual issue, I'll forward to the right team to check and revise, thanks so much for your feedback.

I have an extra SanDisk Ultra lying around, this guy: https://www.amazon.ca/SanDisk-Ul ... eywords=UHS-I+Speed

This is UHS-I. This will do for the M2P, right?

Thanks

It probably would work, but it's not guaranteed to work. Your card is rated U1. DJI recomends using a card rated U3 or V30 for the M2P. (To clear up any confusion U3 and V30 are the same rating)  Sandisk is a very good brand, and usually their cards outperform the ratings, so like I say, it probably will  work, but I certainly would not trust it if you are shooting something important like a wedding. Don't confuse The UHS-1 with the U1 and U3 ratings either. UHS-1 just means one row of contacts, UHS-2 is two rows of contacts. The UHS is not the speed rating.
