Yes as someone else worked out you get roughly a 40mm FOV.
Might be handy for video, no use for stills, its no different to cropping an image on that.
You also wont get the perspective compression a real, increased focal length gives.
I knew this already and like the option. In the video above this could have been explained and demonstrated with significantly less talking and face showing. But I fear doing so would have jeopardised the true purpose the video has been made for ;-)
Most people seem to make videos where a simple webpage or blog entry would be more concise and more accurate (and a lot easier for people to click through and read).
....but that wont make them money.
They use the extra resolution from the sensor to crop the view.
Panasonic did that on my wife's first compact camera.
It does hurt the video quality a little, but it is better than plain digital zoom.
Yeah their is the same possibility with the Sony A7III and A7RIII. Look at the second part of this video :
Maybe in a future firmware DJI will add the possibility to zoom between the 2 focal length of the M2P while filming...
DJI won't give that to Mavic 2 pro because it would be like taking away an important feature from the Mavic 2 zoom. I believe the Mavic 2 pro doesn't have a digital zoom either. I wish DJI would have just come out with one Mavic 2 pro that has all that we want. Even if we pay a bit more it would be an incredible seller.
Hi, thanks for sharing this video with us. Actually, this might work on Mavic 2 Pro. However, we cannot guarantee the quality of the file when trying this. If you have other concern, please let us know. Thank you and have a safe flight.
