Residential and insurance clients need the EXIF and GPS data intact. For example, any orthomosaic series requires the GPS data in order to enable the construction of the resulting 3D site model. Downsizing from 20MP to 12 MP strips in Photoshop etc, strips out that data. The clients very much DON’T want 20MP photos. They don’t want to deal with the extra file size on potentially a couple of hundred photos for each job. I LOVE having the 20MP, that’s why I bought the M2Pro. But that doesn’t mean I want it all the time. When the simplest thing for everyone is to just make use of 12MP, it should be an option. Simple as that. And the fact that a universally standard aspect ratio of 4:3 is not available for photos, is even more surprising. (Sorry Elanor, there IS no 4:3 option for photos on the M2Pro.). How can there be no options for 4:3?
So I’ll keep flying those jobs with the Mavic 1. Which is no big deal, but one sure would have thought that the M2Pro would have been a superset of the Mavic 1. (And one can hope that a future firmware update might add these elements?) |
