Hello i noticed that the new mavic 2 has an new kind of sensor using camera light? instead of a ultrasonic sensor for the downwards sensing from the mavic 1. Would the downwards detection work on the new mavic 2 even in the dark ? without its downwards lights? or does it need its twin led lights to have a ground detection?

Press release described the upper and lower a.s "light sensors".  I suspect the fact they added a big light underneath means it wont work in the dark

Removal of ultrasound might be way we lost precision landing too.

Hi there. I appreciate your time bringing this query to us. The Auxilary Botton Light located on the aircraft improves visibility for the Downward Vision System in weak light conditions. Also, the Downward Vision system is typically used in indoor environments where GPS is unavailable. For more information, please check the Mavic 2 user manual on our website. Thank you.
