I just picked up a Tello today, and tried flying it in my living room, but keep getting low light warning even though I have turned in every light I can. They are daylight compact fluorescent bulbs.

You should have a test flight outdoor

Welcome to the forum penguin. The vision positioning system underneath the drone is sensitive to ambient light. Per it, have you tried Jacksonnai's suggestions and do you get low light warning outside on a sunny day?  

I haven't had a chance yet, its been brutal here in NEPA and by time I get done mowing for day its way to hot to be outside.

That would be well received. In this case, would you mind to conduct IMU calibration first, then fly the drone in good light and record a video which would be feedbacked to engineer, who would check the ambient light,  the texture of the ground as well as flight path etc.
