As a newbie, Not a good first impression

I'm sorry but I searched and searched the forum for an answer to my question and I found nothing. I am new to drones so it hard for me to jump in on someone else's thread and give support just so I can get enough points to ask my question. The good news I took matters into my own hands isolated the problem and fixed it. I think moderating a new members post until they hit a certain point level would be better than them just posting to get points.

Secondly - while I commend some action to try and deter spammers, I feel the approach taken here is a sticking plaster to try and hold back a flood.


Why do we as a forum not nominate trusted, viable, long-term and stable members to carry the authority to ban others and delete or at least close down spam threads.

Again - I stress stable individuals, not those who are prone to knee-jerk reactions, but those who consider the needs of the forum before themselves.

I am part of a car forum, and we have an admin, but we also have 3 moderators and a clear set of rules.  It's a very easy system.

A couple of observations:
1)  Just as in war, when one side comes up with a new weapon, the other side invents a counter-measure.  Spammers will no doubt figure out a workaround.
2)  Concerning the new users unable to post.  I would suggest they search the forum first to see if there is already a answer to their problem.  Often there are numerous posts of the same problems when a solution is readily available in a FAQ.

Pardon me for being three months late to this party.  Some have advocated that the purchase and activation of a drone should be the main requirement for registration and participation.  Unfortunately, such a requirement prevents those who are researching drones from choosing which model would best suit their needs and it could drive their decision to purchase elsewhere because of overreach.  Such a requirement would also negatively impact sales, support and forum growth if DJI did not allow open forum registration and participation since many also buy and fly used DJI drones or self-built drones using DJI products and services.  So in this case such a myopic requirement becomes an outright restriction.

Some have suggested recruiting "trusted members" as moderators but discounting this for the subjective and biased view that it is -- it is extremely unwise for any company to relinquish forum control to non-employees over all of their corporate products and services due to obvious legal and liability issues.  Others have suggested that DJI use moderators in every time zone so that the forum can be effectively monitored at all times for content and quality.  Unless I am wrong here on this moderator point -- DJI only approves employees as moderators.  So with employees all around the world DJI should effectively have a moderator available at any time and on every single day.

One even stated that the mob and herd mentality of the select few on here is irritating and that comment is completely on target and humorous since I've read a lot of others' comments after registration and way before posting.  However, that exists on any forum. In a related forum issue can DJI tweak its SEARCH capabilities so that I don't keep getting a NO RESULTS FOUND response?

The desired results sought should then be recognized by a balance of moderator consistency, timeliness and responsiveness. That being said perhaps moderation is not a DJI priority based on what everyone is experiencing?  Clearly then customer support efficacy should be DJI's top priority and it is also based on engineering support functions so that balance of consistency, timeliness and responsiveness applies with respect to DJI's SW and FW updates which a lot always complain about.  So the verdict seems to be:  DJI can balance a drone but it also needs to balance all of its sales and support functions better and this is much more vital than playing hide and seek or tag with the spammers being complained about.

You can search through the forum for answers with the search toolbar, your problem is probably answered already! What is it I can probably help you with it! When reading all the replies here, many seem to be responding to an earlier post. But I cannot figure out to which. So, post like "This explains alot!" are totally useless without having a frame of reference.
The fact that Spam now appears in replies is also just a sign of a bad forum software.

I recommend using reddit instead, which also has a dji section - much easier to sign up and ask question there than here.

Yikes, and now I even also created a double post (which I now have editied). This software is bad. I thought DJI is a rich company. Can't they afford a proper forum software?

As a new member to this forum, I've been using it to help in getting knowledge about Spark. Being retired and not growing up with todays electronics this site has been very beneficial to bringing me up to speed on some of the acronym's that are used that have been vital to my learning skills. By limiting new comers from posting questions will limit them from learning.     

I also think it's not a good idea to prevent new comers to create threads. How are we supposed to get help then? First time I see this system anywhere on the internet.
