How can I get longer exposures in hyperlapse on the Mav 2 Pro? Right now i'm limited to 1/30 as the slowest i can go. Is this determined by jpeg vs raw or interval setting Or is hyperlapse limited to 1/30th and faster?

so i tested some more and found the shutter speed is not limited on the free move hyperlapse but is restricted on the waypoints hyperlapse. WTH

I was going to test this tonight... it doesn't make sense that it is restricted in Waypoints mode. I can only imagine the image mess when taking longer shutter in free mode.

DJI, please tell us this will be unlocked in future updates.

I was able to lower the shutter in normal photo mode and have the settings stay the same when entering hyperlapse mode. However with the latest firmware update, it now forces the settings to 1/15 slowest. Big bummer. I bought some nice NDs to get nice hyperlapse a with motion blur. Now DJI has killed my hyperlapse mojo :-(

And it does not make any sense that I have no possibility to switch TL/HL mode ON before flying, What if I'm in a National park and can not fly? But I can use drone as normal camera and walking with it holding on my arm etc.
And... It is pretty shaky:

Have you also tried setting the shutter speed before entering hyperlapse mode?

@cineview I think he just said that.  When you go into HL mode on the latest firmware, it changes the shutter to 1/15th and you can’t go below that.  I just had the same problem last night shooting in Singapore.

Well guess what, here’s your mojo back... and then some!

First, tap the little R/C icon along the top. Go down & customize the left/right 5D button to Decrease/Increase exposure, respectively. Now any time you’re in Manual Mode, left & right will adjust Shutter Speed. The right index finger wheel controls aperture then.

What’s this all mean? Well, get airborne & enter Hyperlapse Mode. Now set the camera into Manual & back out of the Advanced Camera Settings. Now adjust aperture (right wheel) and shutter (left/right 5D button) as needed...  PROFIT!

Maybe a stupid question, but is it useful to have a long exposure during a hyperlapse? For a long exposure, you need the drone not to move, or your picture will be blurry... Or does the drone stop to take a picture while it is in waypoint hyperlapse?

In hyperlapse you should have the moving objects like cars... with some motion blur.

Also waiting for solution. Don't understand why shutter speed is limited in HL mode. Used to overcome it by setting shutter in photo mode, but now it's 'fixed'

It makes sense to have a shutter speed limit in Hyperlapse. In Hyperlapse the aircraft itself is moving. It's one thing to get a stable shot at slow shutter speeds while hovering but it's pointless to have slower than 1/15 if the aircraft is moving. You try taking a photo at slower than 1/15 while walking! The entire photo will be blurry.

To make a nice motion feeling you should set shutter speed at half of your frame rate. In timelapse your frame rate is, for example, 1 frame per 2 seconds. So you have to set shutter to 1 second. Actually you can get stunning night hyperlapses with long shutter, you just haven't tried it.

I don't agree at all with this.  A one second shutter is not a universally wanted exposure time.  Try getting away with that on a sunny day unless you have a ND64 or 128.  On fast moving subjects it may not be the look one is after.  With a fast moving drone it may make things too blurry.

There is no correct setting for shutter speed in a hyperlapse.  Experiment to find the look you are after.

There are plenty of examples of 1/4 second shutter speed hyperlapses.  You might need to rethink that.

There is no shutter rules for hyperlapse/timelapse, youre all mixing it up with video.
Ive tried 2.5 sec shutter on hyperlapse, no problem, other than poor lighting conditions, will try again when weather is better and during twilight.
Long shutterspeeds create cool warp light effects, and are perfect for moving objects with lights, such as cars...

It is just the way I wanted it to come out, with motion blur and small light trails.
I couldn't have gotten the look I wanted with your arbitrary limit of 1/15.

Like much in photography and video there are no hard rules, more choice gives more freedom.  Just because you don't like something doesn't mean others don't.  Look at the first comment after yours.

If you use the 5-way button for EV in manual you can take it right on down to whatever the slowest is (8sec if I remember correctly).

Yes, I saw your reply and tried it. Maybe I do something wrong. I set Increase/decrease EV on a 5d button, and nothing changes when I press it in any mode, in manual. Right wheel works fine for aperture.

Ok, I got it. Increase/decrease EV works only in aperture and shutter priority modes, and also uses ISO. If you manually set ISO in HL mode, then it also limited by 1/25 shutter speed. I don't know how you did what you wrote. Maybe this worked before update?

No, full manual. Perhaps try setting something like f4, ¼ shutter, ISO 100 manually BEFORE entering Hyperlapse. Now go into Hyperlapse. The shutter should be adjustable back down to what you wanted using the 5D button.
