Hi there,
Yesterday I took a video clip for my uni. After done, I was trying to land my Mavic 2, but the drone was just lost control and fell into ground. It wasn't high, about 10 meter, and everything ran well before falling, but suddenly it looked like one or some of motors just lost power. The circumstance was all good there, it was not windy, signal and GPS was strong, battery was fully charged. The drone was always under my sight during the flight. but it just fell above my head and crushed.
The damage shows on picture.

Gimbal and one of motor are totally broken, another motor gets seperated. Some parts of the drone are misplaced, there is a number of scrath all around the aircraft as well.

Here is the last moment when it lost control and fell.

I am going to report my case, but is my drone still repairable like that? Otherwise I would just choose replacement process instead.

From damage, it looks cheaper to replace than to repair.

Not really, it is totally open area. I was trying to land on the left side of the footpath, where is the grass field showed on your picture. The closest tress is about 20 meter away at least. I have synchronized the flight record. The drone was even hovering at that position for seconds before my last pulling down operation if you could check the profile.

Yeah, you are right. I just checked price list of Mavic pro components(I didn't find the list of Mavic 2), the repair cost is added up to 200 USD at least, which means it should be more expensive for a Mavic 2. The drone is under DJI care, but I am doubting whether I should afford the extra fee, because the drone was not operated wrong manually.

I am very sorry for your crash! To me the flightrecord does not explain it, but others might see more. In any case you should open a support ticket with DJI and let them analyse all data. There recently was another case with a motor malfunction: https://www.dji.com/support

So the red point on the map is the point, when a single error was reported:
"Gimbal Roll Reached Movement Limit"
And then in 1.6 sec the altitude dropped from 39 ft to zero,
It's not clear why such error could cause the fall down of the drone.
As it was told above, open the case with DJI for further analyse and repair.

Landing is sport mode? Without sensors thats seems like a fast fall not landing.I see in your log you start landing from 30 meters. You pull down stick but you forgot in sport mode the breake length is longer and hit the ground.

I dont understand why ppl use Sport mode in this area.

Have you ever landed in sport mode??

Then you will know it does not switch of bottom sensors...

why was you trying to land 185.8ft from the original take off point 2mins 30 seconds after take off?  something doesnt add up

from 2.28.1 to 2.29.5 you had left stick full down in sport mode
At 2.30 .4 you push full up left stick at a height of 12 ft.
At 2.30.7 game over …

Looks like the momentum of sport mode in a full speed decent caused the crash … Im no expert

Topic title is rather Sensationalist .   not quite the way of things ....

Honestly, the wind wasn't strong, and it was just one breeze that triggered the alarm. You can see it wasn't continuing. There was no information about landing because the drone fell into parts, and the battery jumped out of its slot and broken.

That wind speed is above the maximum level DJI say they drone is resistant to so yes, in p-gps mode it'll make little or no headway at all into it.  And it was at that level for a fair chunk of the flight.

There is very little in your logs that show any problem, at the end of your log it shows you in sport mode 100% down on throttle craft at 9 metres , Aircraft log then shows very quickly -1 ft,
Was the ground you were flying over on a slight incline from where you took off from ? It looks that way on google maps, but hard to tell, you must also remember no sensors operating in sport mode.
Dji will be able to retrieve a lot more info from .dat file from your aircraft which should tell some more.

Let us know how you get on and Good Luck.

It doesn't matter which mode I was using to land, the drone is designed to fly under all three modes including landing. The height was not low enough to trigger the sensor when the drone lost control, and as you can see, I didn't pull it down straightly, I landed it by stages.

as per my previous answer .... At what time and attitude on your flight logs ?did the drone lose control and fall from the sky? It looks like it was responding to stick commands in sport mode?

Gimbal roll reached movement limit error can be caused by wind or erratic flight,it can be duplicated by turning  the drone upside down while powered on...

No one takes off for a flight with the intentions of landing 185 ft away 2 and a half minutes later..

at 2.5.2 you had a high wind warning. You were flying at 182 ft in tripod mode.

Either by accident or intentionally your switched to sport mode.. looking at your flight path it appears as though you had problems controlling the craft after this time, probably attributed by the high winds...

If you look at 2.29.1 the drone is on its side...probably blown by wind .while you pull the left stick fully down, taking power out of the craft to correct its own powered decent.  ,,

Possibly he was in tripod mode, wondered why it wasn't "responsive" (i see no reason why anyone would use tripod mode deliberately at that altitude) then flicked the switch, missed the central P-GPS setting, ended up in sport and lost it from there.

Its in a very strong wind - at or more than the mavic is rated for.

Your probably right or its a combination of factors highlighted by a few member in this topic. ... im the first in line to bash DJI. Poor support, announcements, updates. Ect. But in this case its probably wrong to use the sensationalist topic title …

hold your hands up op and say you goofed... there's no shame  I forgotten the number of craft ive smashed up myself.

The "Gimbal Roll Reached Movement Limit" was a symptom and not the cause of the problem. The problem can be seen to have started just before that at 2:28.8 when pitch when to -26.3 and roll to 15.1, after which it begins to fall. Assuming he wasn't flying in a hurricane, there are no control stick inputs that should produce that attitude.

I was following the drone and just steps away from the crush point. I was the white point on the screenshot which I posted earlier.
There is a radar-look staff above the mimic joystick in the  log viewer page which is the bubble level showing the attitude of the drone.  At 2m 28.9s, the drone lost its balance completely and rotated until crushed.
I don't think the performance like that was under my control.

I was filming a slow motion shot which followed the footpath and climbed up in tripod mode. When it was done, I surely switched into sport mode to get my drone back quickly and to move to the next spot.
