This might sound like a dumb question but why is the 96 Zoom only available in 1080p?. Why can it not be used with the 4K settings?

Is it just 1080p or can you zoom in 2.7K too?

In 1080p the zoom extends to 96 zoom. Mu question is why those it only zooms in 1080p and not in 2.7k or 4k? Why the limitations?

Let me rephrase my question. The question is the mavic can zoom in in 1080p to a maximum of 96 Zoom. Why can we not zoom in 96 Zoom in 4k or 2.7 k?

I do not know why, but it is not only limited to 1080p.  It is limited to 30 frames a secondc at 1080.  Lossless zoom does not work at 60 frames a second 1080.  The video also crops in at 60 frames.  I suspect it has something to do with the limits of image stabilization.

It is very strange because it also let's you do hyperlapse in 1080P only.

It's not strange. It's because 96mm is made up of 48mm optical and 2 x digital zoom, i.e. it's cropping a 4k image to 1080p to give you that extra zoom. It can't crop in on a 4k image and still give you 4k output.

It's probably 30fps because it's limited to 30fps in 4k mode which is actually what is being used (and then cropped) to get you to 96mm.

So if I understand that two times Optical is the Lands End that two times digital is software that's cropping and then it gets reduced to 1080p to give you the 96 Zoom and I correct?

Still my other video cameras do not crop in when changing frame rate, so something is peculiar.

Yes, that's correct.

So a mavic Pro 2 without the zoom can basically achieve the zoom functionality quality of the mavic zoom in post-production by zooming and cropping. Is that correct?

Yes, that's also correct. Also, there are 2 4K modes on the M2P - FOV which is equivalent 24mm and HQ which is equivalent to 40mm. If you crop the 4K HQ mode to 1080p you get equivalent to 80mm.

The only thing you can't do is slide between the focal lengths while you are flying. So you effectively get 2 focal lengths and the ability to zoom in post.

It would have been nice if the mavic Pro 2 had some Zoom at least digital zoom
