Ok

I'm going to need some advice here regarding my accident today.

I have never seen this ever happen to anyone with a dji drone.

I was flying my spark for roughly around 6minutes from a full battery, 15 sattelites and in GPS mode; everything was perfect. Then out of no where the motors stopped and it fell from a height of 30 meters and hit the ground. Snapped 3 proppelers, extensive body damage on the top of it and full of dust.

So I took it home, put brand new propperlers on and gave it a clean to see if I can still fly it. To my disadvantage the RC now can't connect to the Spark the connection light on the RC is solid red and won't turn green. The Spark itself seems ok, but when I go to the app and click on camera only it shows nothing.

Pictures and video below

Can anyone explain to me what actualy happened and can I get it replaced since it's still under warranty?

Around the 1.50 mark the drone shutsdown

Since the cam still captured something: Did your Spark get in contact with a raptor, perhaps?

Ouch!  sorry to hear and see that.  There are many hear that can help and guide you to not only to find out what happened and Your logs should be a big help understanding. To me it seemed like a prop or motor fail.

Our apologies for the inconvenience. I would suggest you to contact out support team to start up a case: (https://www.dji.com/support?site=brandsite&from=nav). We have the professional data analysis team who would do their best to find out the crash reason and then the corresponding resolution would be provided. You can provide your case number here in case you need further assistance. Thanks for your support.

Why were you flying so close to that Radar installation?  That in my opinion would be very risky indeed.  You can upload your flight logs to http://www.phantomhelp.com/LogViewer/Upload/  and then paste the resulting URL back here so we can see what happened. There are instructions on that page on how to find them on your mobile device.

Sorry for your crash, but I think it was avoidable.

I flew here a few times before and nothing happened so I don't think it had anything to do with the tower.

Are the more expensive drones more reliable in this regard?

I've got another problem, when I connect my Spark to my pc via usb cable my pc won't recognise it now. So I'm thinking the Spark is damaged so much I can't use a usb cable to connect to anything. Is there another way to get my flight log?

Your battery was not plugged in all the way. Before powering on the Spark, be sure to push it in until it clicks!!

This crash was definitely not caused by improperly installed battery.

@nhadley, I have a few questions for you:

1) Were all of the props attached when you found your Spark?
2) Did you have any type of 3rd party accessories installed on your Spark?
3) Did you see any birds flying in the area?

Whatever happened it surely relates and starts with the Motor Obstruction message, need to try establish what caused that??,, maybe a bird??

Sorry for you loss
Maybe the battery got detached mid flight, if you didn’t have the battery clip and also if you have the old style battery.

Fly safely all

@nhadley, I have a few questions for you:

Hi msinger

yes all props we attached after impact
3 were snapped and one was fine

no third party accessories all dji standard from box

no birds at all, I had visual line of sight right before the motor shut off

This is the log right when the motors shut off . No bird, the battery was clipped in secure, and I didn't accidently used the controller to shut off motors in mid flight, something internal turned my Spark vertical

Hi,

2 motors were blocked. #2 en #4, opposite motors.

If it was a bird than i would think motors in sequence were hit, not like this.

Why blocked? i have no idea.

So let's what DJI has to say about this problem

I am sorry to hear your drone took a dive.

I would suggest replying to the DJI e-mail and place your case number in the subject line of the e-mail and please ask for a status. In my experience DJI have been pretty helpful. I would also recommend that  yu refrain from going down the "I am really angry" route. My guess is that they get a ton or returns so it might be a matter of when you hit there queue.

I like your videos so I hope you get back up and flying again soon.

Sidd

Looks like it landed on its top.

Wonder what stopped two motors. Very odd. If it was attacked by a bird, you probably would have seen it and your thread would be, "Hawk killed my spark!"

I hope DJI does you well.
