I just got a TK-102 Tracker for my P3A.  It was recommened here.  It only works on 2G networks!!!  I Googled networks near Atlanta, and the only 2G left are up in the mountains, and even that is only a few country roads.
Can anyone recommensd a tracker that runs on the updated networks?  The spec sheets in I can find for other trackers, do not give that detail.  Ugh.
Now i have a SIM card - i would like to use it.  As some of you know, i am enjoying flying low and over fields half a mile away.  A tracker may well be needed soon!
Thanks!
Bob

But it only 3G!  It is amazing that folks aren't upgrading to the new technology.  I guess i just need to not crash.  Of course, Litchi gives me rather good tracking data too.

Hi, Thanks for the inquiry. Hope you'll get the best recommendation in regards to that third party accessory. Thank you for the support.

Most of the self-contained tracking devices only go up to 3G, because it is a cheaper service, and cost is an important factor, seeing as the only time you are likely to need it is if the aircraft goes missing. Try Googling 'child GPS trackers', as this is what they are most often used for in Asia. https://www.indiamart.com/prodde ... rs-18878158848.html

And Litchi will not help you if your aircraft truly goes missing, as it relies on the GPS in the aircraft, whereas these trackers are self-contained. If the battery is ejected from the aircraft, all you will have is the last known location, or it it flies out of radio range.

Those watches are often quite expensive. I have had a couple of trackers like the one pictured in the link I provided, but I cannot remember who the maker was. But they are quite cheap.

The one I bought was A$25-00 at the time, but was only 2G. So later I bought a newer version that was designed for dogs but by the same manufacturer. It was only marginally more expensive than the first. But not all trackers are created equal, some look flash but do not have the features. Mine worked fine, I just decided in the end that I did not need it, so it stays at home now.

EDIT: I found the 3G one: http://www.reachfargps.com/products/RF-V30.html

I've used Trackimo for years
Wouldn't fly without it.
Just make sure you get the 3G one as some people are still selling the old 2Gs
