Was this your Spark?  What was the top altitude here?  Did the local airport give you any issues or just 'have a safe flight'

Something to that effect - more like "thanks for letting us know."
And it is only because of the close relationship I have created over the years.

Now, other areas, like Las Vegas, I might have issues.
I had their local police department inform me the entire 5 miles around McCarran is a no fly zone...

I am finding out there are a lot of things referred to previously was finally adopted into part 107
Like altitude and night flights.
I am still checking on Altitude but in the mean time, cleared by the local airport.

As far as the cloud flight, this one was on the edge of the cloud.
Note the ascent and the descent.
There was only one brief part where the cloud enveloped while up there.

Just out of curiosity, how far away from the airport were you?

Would like to attempt something similar to that myself, but with a fairly active airport nearby and a air base even closer I wonder just how far out I should be before attempting such a flight.
(Like you said though - with local airport's approval)

Out there, it is more of an air strip - Lyndon B. Johnson's ranch airstrip to be exact 2.5mi.
Then a crop dusting company 2,800K ft away
Neither are marked by airspace on a sectional map.
I would do at least 3mi out
Heavier traffic, the whole 5 miles out.
You see, as you fan out, the altitude of the craft is even higher.
By 5 miles out, they should be 2500ft +

Great timing - really well captured.

I think that no matter what the law says, when ATC clears you, you are always on the safe site. But hey i don't know how strict things are in the USA. But in such a big country, there might always be some area where nobody notice you fly to high. Here in Norway, though living outside, i have a small airstip in the area, no ATC, and used for parajumpers. BUT, i live on a hill slope, and the hill behind me, its altitude pluss minimum ground clearnce, is still more than enough to make the FT1.700 without bothering anybody .. :-)

But anyhow.. Nice vid!
