Actual difference between CE and FCC

The real difference is purely signal strength, in FCC mode the remote and drone will use operate on a stronger frequency sending out more decibels than CE a good way of thinking about it is that you have litterally turned the volume up on the remote and the drone can hear it from further away.

Since commercial drones are now limited to 400ft AGL by  the new laws.  Common sense would say recreational drone pilots should adhere to the same rules.

I wouldn't have the nerve to fly 500M and risk peoples lives.  That's about the height where passenger jets fly and a drone could bring one down believe me.

That would be during first minute or two of takeoff and last few minutes of landing.

Good point! Guess that is why there is also a five-mile rule around airports too.

Yeah - he should add 120m as most countries have that as the restricted limit.

So what would you say to a balloonist or a hand glider who ran into a drone at 500m altitude, first responder heli etc.

Top altitude 166.5m Top speed 72,3 kph Top distance 4117m with my Mavic air so far!

Take off and landing is the most dangerous part of flying which makes flying drones at that altitude even more dangerous.  

Most dangerous time is when one of these floats past 200 ft above the local lake   and my Mavic Pro is hovering at 300 ft for a photo session.
Flightradar24 Local (Albury) airport did not display these paragliders. I check before flying.

Managed to head away and land. The only warning was a  noise like a ski-boat.

120m/400Ft altitude limit here in Oz. LOS and daylight only.

I’ve come across these more and more, and they really make you realise how important keeping your drone in VLOS, it’s much easier for drone pilot to spot these and avoid collisions, I don’t believe these pilots have quick enough controls to avoid running into a drone flying at 45mph.
