When starting up which is the proper sequence? Controller first then DJI Go 4 App then Aircraft? Or should I start Aircraft before the App? Does it matter?

Depends on what you are using for the DJI app?  When I had a Samsung tab S2 i had to be very specific....drone, controller then app.   Been using my iPad Pro lately and it doesn’t seem to matter as much.

RC, AC then it will ask with which app to open, if you have more than one, like me.

Why do you have more than one app? Which apps are you using?

Remote and then Mavic - App loads automatically from that point. I got in to the habit of always doing the remote first from my RC car days.

Whatever works best for your setup really. Some combinations don't work for some here.

I fly the MP.  I've always done AC-RC-App and never had a problem.  Walk over, set the drone on the ground, punch the battery button to power up, go back to my bag and pick up the controller and fire it up.  App being the last thing up and running.  Works great for me.

Switch on tab/phone then controller, power up Mavic. If all is well the DJI Go 4 App auto starts on my Android tab.
The first time that I ran the app the tab asked if it should auto run the DJI app so I said ok. Nowurries since then

MP Original.
iPhone 6s+ is dedicated for flight only no SIM, powered off after every session.
Sequence->iPhone->RC->AC->wait for the RC to connect to AC->once connected, fires up DJI GO.

Hello, jcflyer23.

Here are the steps I go through.

1. Get the RC ready. (Unfold antennas and screw in the joysticks)
2. Connect the phone.
3. Switch on the RC.
4. Launch the app.
5. Switch on the drone.

I read one User saying that this would lessen the possibilities of a flyaway drone.
But, I highly doubt this would happen.
I mean, it could right?

Harvey.

Hi there. thank you for reaching out. Regarding your question actually, it doesn't matter about the sequence. You can start like turning on the Remote then manually linking it to the Aircraft then launch the App or Turn on Remote/Aircraft launch the App then to the linking process from the App.

Makes perfect sense. I do the same with my race quads just in case there's a run away.

Hello, jcflyer23.

Here are the steps I go through.

This is the only way I go, apart from @ step 4, I have to wait for the app to load to the title screen before turning on the drone.

This is the only sequence I have found that significantly reduces problems(phone disconnects)

I started doing it the same as you about a year and a half ago. No other combo would work so i just stayed with that. No problems for me either on 2 Mavic Pro

Yep, same here. That way the MA has more time to establish a decent GPS lock.

Yep, same here. That way the MA has more time to establish a decent GPS lock.

The main reason that I've been doing it that way, I don't want the MP to start up WHILE I'm moving it around.  I've seen some people start the drone while carrying it.  I Set it on the ground First.  Start it, then the controller.  Like you said.  It gets a hard lock on GPS.  When the controller gets power, it doesn't have to wait and look for a signal.  The Signal is there as soon as it boots up.
