And why won't they work ?

The latest Goggles firmware update (3rd September) allows them to work with M2 @2.4GHz.

Date : 2018.09.03 Firmware : v01.04.0500 DJI GO 4 App iOS : v4.3.0 DJI GO 4 App Android : v4.3.0

I thought the M2 Ocusync 2.0 jump between 2.4 and 5.8ghz for the best signal? Wouldn't it disconnect the drone if it jump to 5.8G while the goggles still listening on 2.4?

Presumably the channel selection is a two way handshaking process, in which case any auto selection would be limited to the 2.4GHz channels. I would imagine that when the goggles are paired to the aircraft that it would be decided at that point, based on the goggles ID, which band to use.

Perhaps some friendly Mavic 2 & Goggles owner can elaborate more as to how this is done.

Base on the Mavic 2 series spec Quote Ocsync 2.0 support ( 2.4/ 5.8 Ghz real-time auto-switching).  So during the binding  process both 2.4 and 5.8g should handshake with the goggles so when it goes into auto-switching it doesn't loose connection with the drone. All these short range and disconnection issue might be the cause of this.

Just my opinion.

"So during the binding  process both 2.4 and 5.8g should handshake with the goggles "

And with the white goggles no 5.8 so no handshake (a two way process). I think it would be written into firmware so that it wouldn't attempt a hand shake at 5.8.

Interesting thing is that under CE regulation the 5.8 is transmitted at 1/4 of the power of 2.4, so I could imagine a situation under CE regulated areas using goggles RE on 5.8 and losing connection at about 500m or so.

So then is it possible that for those of us with new M2Pro and Goggles RE running v.01.04.0600 MIGHT have
a line of code still in process telling the Occusync 2.0 to DROP the signal to 1/4th power during 5Ghtz?
And are only achieving 500 meters till goggles disconnect?  Just askin...

I wouldn't expect so as it adjusts power dependant on region aircraft is in, and you'd be U.S or under FCC regulations so 5.8 & 2.4 should be same power:-

2.400 - 2.483 GHz
FCC:≤26 dBm
CE:≤20 dBm
SRRC:≤20 dBm
MIC:≤20 dBm
5.725-5.850 GHz
FCC:≤26 dBm
CE:≤14 dBm
SRRC:≤26 dBm

That's true but that would be going back to the older version of Ocsync I would think so?  I'm willing to bet there is a new goggles coming out in the near future that would support the software upgrade lol.

I'm not sure if the higher freq uses less power?

Under CE regulation (Europe and others) it does, but as you're in U.S and under FCC then there is no change in power between the two bands.
