I would try something different, the DJI GO4 app on my 'Android' Huawei M3 Mediapad Tablet (10.1'') is 377MB - Perfect performance faultless video and cheaper than both of them you mention, what more can you ask for

DJI Go 4 is using 356 MB for the App' on my Nexus 7, and 506 MB on my iPad Pro 9.7 (2016). Plus additional for data which would be cached photos and video.

Overall the iPad might be less problematic, but there are certainly a few Android devices available that have been well spoken of.
One thing in the iPads favour is that DJIs GS Pro (Ground Station Pro) application is available. At present there is no Android release, but there are many other App's that could be used.

So far some very nice choices: Versus.com

Be careful.. Your DJI warranty will not be honored if you are flying with anything other then a DJI app (Litchi, etc.) and something happens... Just FYI

I believe they do give warranty cover for any of the App's using their SDK, GS Pro is specifically a DJI product so shouldn't affect anything. I think the difficulty in using Litchi for a claim, and perhaps others, is that they do not produce what DJI consider to be a valid flight log which may assist in establishing any cause of failure. Where the aircraft is recovered and data from the aircraft proves system failure then I think that is covered by warranty.

But I could be wrong, I've never had to test it out. Perhaps someone can verify that warranty is covered for third party App's.

I chose the Huawei MediaPad M3 Lite 10. The DJi4 Go app is running at about 500 MB and the unit is working very nicely.

I've read some good things about the Huawei, looks like an excellent choice :-)
