I'm thinking about buying a second hand Inspire 2. Can anyone give me any pointers on things to check and look out for?

The only way to support your decision is a test flight. If you can't confirm Inspire 2 appearance and performance personally, I would suggest to pass. If you can, firstly educate yourself about aircraft features and specifications, examine the frame for obvious signs of abuse, check for any warnings on initial power up, perform routine pre-flight check-up, confirm hovering stability at low attitudes and - finally - overall performance during flight. Note: do not upgrade FW to recent .0200 version despite warnings, if any. It's broken.
