Hi, I've been looking at the Ronin S to initially mount my Nikon D7200. Happy to accept that camera controls will not work as I was planning to get a Panni G5s in the future which appeared, initiallly, to be fully supported. My question to the guys who have experienced the out of control spinning is : Has this behaviour ever manifested itself when the Camera
is simply mounted and balanced and not connected to the Ronin? Thanks

The issue is only present when you're tethering to the Ronin-S with the cable provided. I did a lot of shooting with my Canon on the Ronin-S before my GH5 arrived and it was perfect, but once I started tethering with my GH5 it started randomly shutting down etc.

So yes, you can remain untethered with your GH5 and all should be well.

I cave a Canon 6D with a 17-40 mounted on a ronin s and each time i turn it on it spins out of control. I have it balanced correctly. The balance test shows excellent on all 3 axis. i have auto tuned and tried the last 3 firmware. Please advised.
