What is the best setting to put the camera setting on? I try to just shoot auto and the colors don't look good.

That is a massive, open question to the extent that there is no such thing as a 'best' setting. The settings are there to support the lighting conditions you are filming in and the type of still image or footage you intend to capture. As a general rule you want to keep the ISO to 100 to minimise noise (without under exposing the image), the shutter speed at double the frame rate (if you need motion blur in your video footage), a very slow shutter speed if shooting long exposure photography etc. Then you have sharpness, saturation and contrast, white balance and colour profiles to take into account such as D-log for post editing to normal for point and shoot. You get the picture. The best way to learn is to try all the settings and see what you feel works best for you. I like bold, sharp images in addition to black and white whilst others like natural, cinematic footage and very colourful images.
