The drone motors are beeping constantly. Strangely I can connect the DJI Go App to the camera of the Drone but the drone itself doesn't appear to be connecting, and there are no lights coming up on the drone. The yaw control board of the gimbal is getting really hot (dangerously hot, not the normal heat). And the calibration/centering sequence of the gimbal isnt completing, only the motor that controls the up/down axis of the gimbal is working, the other two stay limp.
  
  
I don't seem to be able to find anything helpful on the web, but have tried a number of things that have been suggested, all without fixing the problem.
  I have updated to the latest firmware available on the DJI assist application, but now when i try to refresh the firmware it fails at 28% every time saying; "Update Failed. error code 0x020103". I then tried a factory restet and that also failed. I have tried downgrading, that fails.



Any help would be great, I don't know what to try next.

Maybe is a Firmware Prob ..  Have you tried update the Firmware Via App Dji go 4??

Yeah I updated the firmware and it didn't fix it so I have tried some other things and every now and then I'll try to refresh the update but it always fails the same way. Have even tried downgrading and factory resetting but that doesn't work either.

I would try format Sd Card  in Dji go 4 app , and start again The Process

Check in DJI Go 4 settings, that sounds like 'ESC Beeping' has been enabled, which can be done manually to help find the aircraft when close by but hidden from view.

With all powered up and aircraft connected look in at 'Main Controller Settings' menu, then 'Advanced Settings', down at the bottom you will see 'ESC Beeping' tap on that to toggle on and off if that is the cause.

Edit:- On second thoughts I've just re-read your post, have you tried upgrading using DJI Go 4, it can often be successful where DJI Assistant 2 might fail, perhaps even server problems or congestion at DJI.

It looks like some kind of hardware issue with the back left ESC/motor.

Is this a brand new Phantom? If not, did you crash it and/or damage it in some other way?

Yes there was a severe crash, all hardware that was obviously broken has been replaced or repaired and now I'm just troubleshooting the remaining problems.

I hadn't realised it had been crashed and repaired, in which case sending it in to DJI might be the best option for a successful repair.
