Hi DJI,
I recently had a scary experience where I almost lost my drone (Mavic Pro), due to what looks like a software bug, or at minimum, lack of a warning where there should be one.
I had RTH height and max height both set to 90m. It would seem that when they're set the same, and RTH is activated because of loss of signal, the drone will rise up to that height, and then pretty much just sit there. I have video from the SD card showing the drone moving forward slightly, then backing up again, over and over, until I ran through the forest to recover signal. If I hadn't been able to recover signal, I presume it would have continued doing that until the batteries ran down and it either crashed, or landed in the water.
DJI, a warning in the app when both are set to the same would be incredibly useful. Or, fixing RTH so that it's actually able to, you know, return to home, when they are set the same.
Before anyone jumps on me:
Yes, I realize part of the fault was mine: I flew the drone around a group of trees and out of line of sight. I was trusting RTH (with a height well above anything nearby) to bring it back into signal range if anything went wrong. However, had RTH actually done what it says it does (or had it warned me about the height settings being incompatible) this wouldn't have been an issue.
