So today with variable weather conditions we decided to put our trusty Ronin-S through it’s paces from a photographic stills perspective and combine it with a few stills we captured using our Mavic Pro.
We always start a days flying or filming by checking a variety of apps to ascertain weather conditions, from our local weather station, to the UAV Forecast and lastly windy dot com. Planning and preparing for weather is vital as it gives us an indication of potential light and wind direction throughout the day. knowledge of Weather has a significant bearing on the potential outcome of a shoot, be that aerial based or ground based.
As we were shooting predominantly ‘stills’ with the ronin using the ronin app it was important to attach the ronin to our Manfrotto Tripod and counterbalance the ronin to ensure a sturdy base for the ronin in at times challenging windy conditions. The Ronin-S is rock solid, but needed to be anchored to the floor using this method as we were shooting remotely using a field monitor app and the ronin app to trigger the shutter.
Here are a few of our images below.
