This is from Vøringsfossen, Norways highest waterfall. It is situated close to a national road that goes around a Norwegian national park called "Hardangervidda". The road is known for its harsh environment and is often closed during the winter.

Vertical panorama stitched together with three AEB shots edited in Adobe Lightroom.

Wow.  I was nordic skiing in Norway last winter.  Wonderful country.  When I look at some of the pictures and videos people take, I'm amazed as I would be really concerned about losing my drone into such canyons.  But I'm really new to this endeavor and have very little experience.

Never flew above the canyon due to 120m (400ft) AGL limitations in Norway. But yes there can be quite a bit of turbulence, and not to mention moisture when flying in areas like this.

Really!? I can imagine the place has really changed. They recently built a walk around the area with great view straight into the canyon.

Great capture!

And fun to see, as I have a cabin just a few minutes walk from that place. And it is a truly beautiful place, both the Vøringsfossen waterfall and all of Hardangervidda national park. The availability of amazing scenery for photography and filming is never a problem in this region, but the weather can be... Especially for flying cameras.

Here's a view of the same place taken about a year ago. Camera turned 180 degrees (and probably a bit further out down the canyon) compared to your image:

Fossli Hotel, Vøringsfossen

Fossli Hotel, Vøringsfossen

Btw, I hope I'm forgiven for posting an image from a Phantom 3. I had my M2P with me a week ago, but the weather wasn't cooperating.

Yes, I agree it looks a lot like if it were shot directly above the canyon. But I'm around 20 m AGL when this was shot.

If you fly at 100 meters, is there a greater risk to the drone or something?

I've heard people discussing that they lost control of drones (not necessarily M2P) flying in Kauai, which also has these steep drop canyons that aren't easy to reach on foot.

Maybe they were in one canyon and flew over to another canyon so there's a lot of rock between the drone and the pilot and the signal gets lost?

BTY, one of my favorite shots from a Norway trip was a shot around Geiranger.  I believe there was an outlook called Bird's Nest or something like that which is on the way back to Alesund.  The bus climbed up several switchback turns and there was a turnout and all the cars and buses were pulling over.

That was as good as any shot a drone would be able to get, especially for panoramas as the fjord kind of turned at a 40 degree angle before reaching Geiranger town.

Nice Dude! but the AGL is from where you take off. So if you are ton top and flew over the canyon it is NOT considered that you are above 120m.

I'm very well aware of that. The shot is taken directly above from where I'm standing. If I was flying directly above the canyon then the aircraft would be 200m (650ft)++ AGL.

Again, It doesn't matter, the 120m+ is above the highest point from TAKING OFF, even if you flew over the canyon.

Example, if you took off next to a highrise that is higher than 120m you are still allowed to fly 120m above the highrise building.

Sorry, my misunderstanding. But point is I never flew above maximum height restrictions.

No need to! what am saying is you did NOT do anything wrong and you would NOT do anything wrong if you take off from the top and then flew over the canyon. You are still in the legal limit.

The regulations in Norway are that you are not allowed to fly more than 120 m above ground level from the aircraft. So if I take off from a cliff and fly off the cliff, I'm breaking the law even though I'm not above 120m from takeoff point (given that the cliff is above 120m high). Not sure how this regulation is practiced in other counties, but that's the way it is in Norway.
But enough about that, I'm not here to argue about laws and regulations :-)
