Yea definitely no room! 8x props is kinda tough to get to fit right too. I kind of like it that way though, especially for travelling as I would have my tablet out most of the time anyways. I was happy the charging brick has it's own dedicated spot so it doesn't move around. Overall very happy with the purchase.

I ordered one through B&H since it isn't an option on the DJI site anymore (at least at this time)
Not sure how long until I get it since their site says"coming soon"

Actually my iPad mini 2 fits in one of the slots without an issue.

It does fit the mini but I couldn't find where the props would go if it's in there.

For now I am keeping the charger separate since I really wouldn't need that "in the field".  iPad fits nicely there.

Do you think it would be possible to cut a slot for the iPad mini, say between the batteries and the Phantom? Looks like there would be enough room for it. That way you could have everything you need in one place! I guess I will decide when I actually get the case, who knows when that will be. Oh yeah, my extra batteries would be nice too!!

I don't see why you couldn't. Wouldn't fit the air but a mini no problem I would imagine.
