Hello, I'm not an expert in photography, yesterday I did a little test flight at night and I noticed a strong flickering in the images of the Cam , I did not set anything special, all set to AUTO. Is it a common problem? How can I solve? thank you

If it is extremely dark with sparse ambient light the camera will push the ISO up to 6400 or beyond depending on the model.  The resulting video can suffer extreme grain & flicker.  An example of what you are experiencing would help in diagnosing the problem.

A simple video that takes up an illuminated supermarket parking, not totally dark, indeed!

It could also be the LED lights they are using causing the flickering.

Lol yeah for sure that flickering its the refresh rate of the lights matching the frame rate of your video. If you look at other light sources in the shot are not flickering.

Check the anti-flicker setting in camera settings, I would set to 60 Hz for U.S. That might cancel or at least reduce the flicker produced by the lighting working on 60 Hz mains supply.

Sorry I never checked your location.

If that's made no difference then perhaps a change of frame rate might help, do you remember what it was set as, if not then look at the video file properties, you will see resolution and frame rate in file details.

Hi there, sorry for the inconvenience caused. Can you please check if Anti-Flicker is turn-off on the app? Also, have you tried to reset your camera settings and try to shot a video again? Let's see if this will work. Thank you.

As others have mentioned it appears to have something to do with that one light as the flickering doesn't appear uniformly throughout the entire video.  With LED lighting becoming more prevalent this issue may become common.  the camera settings I believe there is an anti-flicker setting that can be set to 50 Hz, 60 Hz, or Auto.  I always keep mine set to auto & have not experienced the problem.

what did you setting in your cam? Apart from the anti-flicker AUTO, everything else is in AUTO mode? Thank you

Holy xxxx.  I've only watched the first 1/3 - incredible.  Do you have a commercial license?  You can just fly over the city like that.  I admit that I had to look up M&T Bank Stadium to identify it was Baltimore.

WONDERFUL.

Back - so one continuous 17 minute shoot?  How much planning and choreography went into that 17 minutes?  I was truly mesmerized and I'm usually a natural landscape kind of guy.  Thanks for posting and sharing.

Thanks!  No commercial license I am just a hobbyist.  Baltimore is a great place for flying, just watch your back & wear Kevlar if you have it available.  I like planning out my flights like a mini-movie-adventure of sorts.  The mission was programmed with Litchi.  From lift-off to return, the entire flight is controlled by Litchi.  All I did was land at the end.  I could even program the landing if I wanted.  The flight is a culmination of hundreds of manual RECON & programmed Litchi flights over the city.  "Stadium Shot - 4K" is just the latest iteration.

It really was a wonderful video.  I've heard of Litchi but not investigated and that's sheer magic.

We can't fly anywhere in Seattle except my own 5,200 sq ft lot and the house is half of that!  I think someone crashing a drone into the Space Needle and another hitting a person at a parade killed it completely.

If those are LED lights then LED l lights  can cause this effect,  The flicker is caused by the fact that the lights strobe at the line frequency of the electrical power. If the frame rate of the video capture is close to that frequency (but not the same), then the effect becomes very noticeable.

Hi,
Enrico i am almost sure its the frame rate. Select pal and record at 25fps to avoid the flicker.
If you want to try manual in the night, for video try 25fps, 1600iso, shutter 1/25,  custom white balance 2900 or somewhere near that, normal colours, style 0,0,0,0.
For photos, iso 100 and shutter go down as much as the light needs.
Greetings From Greece
Roi.

Thanks P.film, one of the few who gave me settings as I asked!
Anyway, I simply solved by going from 30fps (flicker in my video posted here) to 25! Anti-fliker AUTO and Full Auto Video settings! Resolved !
