One of the advertised features of the DJI Osmo Mobile 2 is that it has a USB socket that can be used to provide power to the mobile device. However I can't see how to do this practically.
There are two ways the mobile can fitted into the holder for shooting in landscape...1) Camera up - In this orientation the USB C socket is against the bottom of the phone holder and therefore you can't attach the cable.
2) Camera down - In this orientation the USB C socket can be used. However the camera is obscured by the gimble.

There seems to be a serious design flaw such that the advertised feature doesn't actually work practically.

Am I missing something? Can DJI or anyone else show a picture of how this is meant to work.

Even with a right angled connector this is going to push the mobile further up and then I suspect make balancing it impossible.

In that video they are shooting in portrait mode. And I can see how a right angled connector would help a lot.
However I want to shoot in landscape. So the mobile is rotated 90 degrees to the left. And then where the cable is connected is against a rubber stop.

See pages 5-6 of the manual...
https://dl.djicdn.com/downloads/ ... _User_Manual_EN.pdf

Notice how the home button / bottom of the phone is towards the tilt motor on the right so the camera is on the left where it isn't blocked by the gimble. However this means the charging socket at the bottom of the mobile is blocked making it impossible to charge.

Take a look at number #4 comment

Btw have you bought the 90 degree cable and try it on your osmo before?

"Looks nice cable, but I don't think it works for most of phone since the gimbal is still hard to be balanced well."

The sales pitch...
"Go live! With up to 15 hours of battery life, the Osmo Mobile 2 can also charge your smartphone for hours of streaming."

The reality...
"The Osmo Mobile 2 can charge a mobile device via the USB port on the back of the handle. It can be simply used as a power bank just in case your phone is out of power."
[Comment #9 again by DJI Mindy]

Sorry but in my opinion that is false advertising if it can't actually charge the device while streaming. And while I accept that it can in portrait mode the limitation of not being able to charge in landscape mode should be highlighted.

But did you try it before?
Never try never know
Just place the phone slightly forward so that there will have room for the connector and balance the gimbal by adjusting the arm

I've ordered one of these...
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Ribbon- ... lack/dp/B07GX96K14/

I feel that...
The the gimble should be modified with a cutout to support a connector.
DJI should provide a micro USB and USB C cable that fits the cut-out.

Or better still build USB charging into the holder and route the cables internally. DJI must have some pretty good know how in routing cables through a moving gimble. That plus high power replaceable batteries and/or the ability to charge while using it from an external battery pack would be a winning combo.
