Can anyone tell me why in the spherical panorama mode the Mavic Pro 2 (28mm) only takes 27 photos?  The Phantom 4 Pro (24mm) takes 34.

Thanks Tony, it's not just a curiosity, I'm having trouble combining photos with the autopano pro software, probably not finding the contact points

I think because mavic 2 pro makes pictures at 20 Mp resolution. it's enough for 360 build. At lower resolution, is need more pictures.

no I'm sorry it's not like that! depends, if anything, on the focal length, in any case  the Phantom 4 pro has also 20mp

I can imagine, that you get in trouble to find stichtching points, and I hope that the optical system of the M2P ist better as the system of the P4P! The Lens distorsion in the corners of it is bad and the 34 photos of the P4P are rather close to the edge to get a stitching done.  For an easier stitching the P4P would need much more overlap.

I expected similar optical performance on the M2P and so I bought the M2Zoom to avoid any optical issues.   As I expected, there is no significant distorsion and only light-moderate vignetting.
The Mavic Zoom provides also 27 Photos (wide angle) in Pano 360, and it stitches well (mostly).

I do not know how much distortion can affect, but the m2 zoom has a focal length of 24mm, like the Phantom 4 Pro, so with the same shots the overlap points are greater.

From the last tests I did Autopano Pro did the Stich although not perfectly, I have to correct what is written in the title, the photos that produces the M2P are 26 and not 27.

The M2 sadly does not tilt the gimbal up the full 30 degrees for sphere shot so it actually photographs less of the world therefore fewer images.

The P4P takes 20mp stills.

It is caused by the limitation of the tilt angle of the gimbal restricting the number of still images being taken in comparison.
