Looking at the M2Pro (Spark owner presently).

In real world CE Mode what kind of distance would you expect?

I know LOS and interference all come in to play, but just in a general rural setting.

Well I live in RSA and the furthest I got with my zoom before battery low warning comes on is 5.5km

I don't think video transmission range will ever be a problem for you if you fly line of sight with the M2P. The theoretical range of M2P is 5km, which is not an unreachable number.

600m only? How are your antennas angled? The flat side of the antenna should be facing the aircraft.

I passed 4km without any problems in germany

The most I got in a non populated area with antenna at the correct angles, and not too much humidity ( water droplets however small will absorb your signals), is 1.7km in CE mode. Then I was down to about 1 to 2 bars signal and was getting weak signal alerts. I suspect that the craft was in 5.8 ghz mode at the time. 5.8 ghz mode has less power output than 2.4 in both the phantom 4 pro and the M2Pro

2.5 miles shouldn’t be a problem.

Officially it's 4.5KM in a CE area with OcuSync 2.

antenna was on the correct position and facing the aircraft. i'll try again on the beach so lets see.

I've done 4.5km without any interference even below hills. Returned it back out of fear for the battery, but still had around 30% when it reached home point. I think it could easily do +5km in a wind free day.

DJI claims 18 km well over 5 + 5 miles (round trip).  Go out at far as you can with a close eye on the battery %.
