Dear users,
I have a problem with long exposed shots during the night. The upper and lower edges of the pictures are purple. I added an example to show the issue. Does anyone know if this is an error of my camera or a general limitation of the drone?
Best regards
Andreas

There have been others on this and MavicPilots forum reporting the same issue. Hope you get it sorted.

I suspect the imaging chip is picking heat generated either by itself or the other circuits within the gimbal.
It's really just an indication of the limitations of the camera. You would likely see less if the ambient temperature were lower.

It was already quite cold, around 0 degree celsius.

I found another thread with a similar problem but they could not say what causes the issue.

Purple fringing maybe because of high ISO? Do a couple of tests with lower ISO, slower ss and see if it solves the problem. Guessing here.

Can you upload more photos? Your sample has a lot of noise for ISO 400. Also is this photo edited? IMO it looks like the shadows are pushed beyond the limits.

It was completely dark and my settings in Lightroom where extreme, but you can see the purple edges in the drone generated jpg as well.
Here is the raw and another example with ISO 100 and 8s exposure time

It looks like heat. The only way to fix this is to use faster shutter speed or fix this in post

I did serveral tests to investigate the problem. The first conclusion is that it might be a sensor issue because the apperture affects nothing at all. The second conclusion is that shutterspeed and iso go together. What I did are pictures in a room with as little light as I could manage. I did 1, 2, 4 and 8s shutter speed each with all ISO values (100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, 6400 and 12800). See the picture for the result.

What were your settings in this (nice) photo? Did you had those purple bands before editing?

He used that raw and managed to remove the purple bands in post.

Could it be because of the LED lights? Just a thought. Also in general the M2P does not operate well with higher ISO, even just 400.

No the lights were switched of during the shots and I tried if it makes a difference to switch them off completely.

It seems as if the latest firmware update solved the problem. The attached picture is with 8s and iso 12800, same as the worst in my comparison picture, some posts before. I will post a nightshot in some days. The white line is no error, it is the table where the drone was standing on.
