Hello Friends,
Some of you guys must have been aware that i recently lost my mavic air due to high speed winds.
LINKS to the posts, in details:
a) LOST MY MAVIC AIR TODAY-Need Help
b) [VIDEO] How I LOST My DRONE

Well thankfully, DJI generously offered me a new replacement drone unit with some discount. And i am about to receive it in few days.
Now, to prevent any such "lost" situations from happening, i am thinking of fixing some additional devices to my MA which might help me in finding it, incase i lost it again [I hope i never face this situation, but still...]

a) Any bright flashing LED lights which could light up till a long time. So that i can see it easily. Will help, in case i survey the area aerially with some diff drone, i can see it easily.
b) Any light weight GPS device, which can constantly send me GPS signals till some 3-4 days, so that i can track its location.
GPS unit is a necessary - because in my case, the drone battery died in mid air so the last known gps location was also in mid air position, not the exact crash land zone and secondly, i coulnt track the person who stole and carried it away with him once it crashed. Atleast if the GPS device would have been there, then i could have seen some movement after it fell and may be, may be i could have tracked it. Also having the constant gps tracking atleast for few days , may help in recovering the lost drones easily.
c) Any other suggestions...??

Please suggest, if anyone is using any such devices so that it might help me in safeguarding my new drone.

Thanks.

You could use the Cree strobe lights, they are very effective. On a GPS device you could search the forum, there are multiple entries about this.

Not sure if they have one yet for MavAir, but checkout 3.58 parachute’s for drones.

Yep, I strapped on some 5000 lumens, 400W floodlights to my Mavic air. It's a little heavy but now I can use my Mavic air as a portable lighthouse which is cool and my neighbours appreciate the fact that they can mow the lawn on a new moon.

I've also strapped on 10 GPS receivers for location redundancy.

My entire payload is 10kg so I've had to add an additional 20 props and a 30S battery array but it's worth it.

Hello and good day TechVoyager. I am sorry to know that you have lost your DJI Mavic Air.  Just a friendly reminder, we don't recommend you to use a third-party devices on your DJI devices because we are unable to ensure the compatibility and the reliability of the said device. Thanks for your understanding. Have a safe and happy flying always.

Just an idea, if you fly within visual line of site it reduces the chance of loss, is easier to recover if and when you need to bring it back, and above all don't fly in winds above 10m/s or risk a second incident and a nagging wife.

First I have to say that after your experience I believe you don't have to repeat tha same mistakes.
So don't fly away of your visual capability. Avoid flying above big and dense forests, big water surfaces and crowded neibourhoods, exept if you like to risk again your handreds of dollars.
And an idea for lighting solution. Have in mind you got to fly with the prop guards on.
Buy some 2 meters of self adhesive (or non adhesive too) led strap 12V. One red and one cold white. Also a 3s 11.1V 750mAh lipo battery. Total cost no more than 25 USD or less.
Make the necessary connections and have a drone that not only is visible but screaming "here I am"...

prop-guards are one of the reason that my drone drifted away as they increase the surface area and due to this drones' fighting with the wind capabilities reduce. Even dji manual says the same. 2nd the idea suggested by you kind of increases the weight of the drone and will impact the performance of drone. I would rather prefer to have a small and light weight gps tracker or loc8tor lite kind of device, which weighs less and gives proper tracking. Strobe lights look cool though but i will wait for some more advises and suggestions here.
Thanks

The prop guards never make my air drifting. A good compass calibration does not let drone drift out. About weight...i agree....half weight with strobe light...but much more lighting with led strap. Personaly i have no problem with added weight of 45 grams, and i can see my drone from 500 meters at darkest night. I can't say about longer distance cause i usualy don't fly farther away.
