Hi Team,

Just a simple question, is there a sound method of distinguishing between the Phantom 2 version 1 and new version 2?

There are lots of websites advertising both at different price points (V1 or V2 for ~$1085 AUD or ~$1250 AUD respectively both with H3-3D gimbal) whilst others who are advertising non-specifically at the lower price point (~$1100AUD) but who I have contacted and state it is the V2. Just trying to ensure i don't get the older model on the back of word of mouth from a salesperson.

the general outlook for different versions of Phantom are different.

For generation 2 of Phantom, there are three different types: Phantom 2, Phantom 2 Vision and Phantom 2 Vision Plus. For the comparison among them, pls refer to our website which lists different outlooks and features: http://www.dji.com/products/compare-phantom. Only Phantom 2 are supposed to be installed with H3-3D whilst the other two are already fixed with cameras.

I believe miguel11 was referring to the upgraded version which was released recently and the base version of the Phantom 2.

From this video, I can see the remote control is different. New remote has extra 4 LEDs at the ront, no battery cover at the back, extra trainer port at the back too, extra switch behind S2 switch for Gimbal and motor on the P2v+ itself looks different from the top?

Julie, Can you please advise if the upgraded model is only available for Vision + but not the P2 (non vision +)?

for Phantom 2 Vision Plus, there are indeed different versions. To tell the latest one and the old one apart:
1. latest remote controller has a gimbal dial on the upper left side of the remote controller.
2. latest aircraft has a different kind of motor, which is 2312 compare to the 2212 in the old version. The propeller is 9450 compare to the 9443 in the old version.
3. latest compass has a plastic cover.

These changes are also available for Phantom 2. Any questions, feel free to contact us.

Same as above applies to the Phantom 2 as well. Lots of people have the Phantom 2 V2 now.

have the phantom vision 2 (not plus) V2.0 come out yet?  i do not see them anywhere.  i am in the USA

I like the new version with the improvements to the motors, props and control box.  
Might get one soon.

Dronecamps.com has individual parts and complete kits for the Vision 2 upgrade.

i don't own one yet so i don't have a need to upgrade

tchinderle, at this point if you're ordering online it's hard to tell the V2s apart from the V1s. Most vendors don't even know there's a difference - let alone verify it has the upgraded features.

Best bet is to verify in person at a hobby store, or order online from a website that specifically says V2 upgraded version (rechargeable remote, upgraded motors, ecs etc)
