DJI sent out a marketing email on Nov 28. That link provided no mention of any device compatibility nor any reference to a requirement to have the Mimo app to activate. Even today the main marketing page for Osmo Pocket doesn't mention this, it only talks about smartphones and android, not some very limited number of smartphones. It's only on the Mimo App page where compatibility is mentioned (way down at the bottom), and I'm going to doubt that information was there on Nov 28 given the surprise level once people started getting their pockets.

I definitely have to give you that one.... I just "pretended" that I was ordering a Pocket from the DJI Home page.  Went to the Store, followed the Learn More links, selected Buy One, and looked for Specs or Compatibility.  At each step I didn't find any listing of current compatibles.  Even in the FAQ section.  I only found it after navigating to the support page(s) (also not easy/obvious).  I also went to the two online electronics stores from whom I usually buy products like these.  Neither of them list the device compatibilities either.  Under Specs it only states iOS and Android (with some allusion to USB-C.
Unless a purchaser was really diligent there would be no way of knowing their new Samsung wasn't "compatible."  My apologies for my snark.

Almost a week since the initial post... still no fix, I've tried everything suggested in this thread. This is unacceptable, should have been fixed within 24hrs. Un-gate the firmware update or update the app.

Anyone else having problems exchanging it?  DJI keeps telling me they are going to email me a shipping label and nothing.  When I contact them it is always "wait another 24hours"

I just got my device. Downloaded the dji Nimo app and wen I connect to activate the app shuts down. I cannot use it with my iPhone X!

In some manuals was written, that it can be activated manual over the osmo pocket itself.
I got the osmo today, and it says I have to activate via the mimo-app on a newer smartphone that I dont have.

Its interesting. I have tried the activation with many different devices. Even when i connect the OP via the USB C-Port on the downside of the device with another Smartphone it will be recognized but Activation did not work. Is ist possible, that DJI simply did not include some serial numbers in their activation Database, so that these devices never will get activated until the database is fixed?

Is it possible that my Osmo (or Serial Number) may be not in the Activation Table or even programmed in the Osmo Pocket? Please DJI, explain why many of us burned many Hours for nothing.

Osomo shield can purchase within 30 days of activation. When would it be came out in australia?
If it's not come out within 30 days of lauching the product in australia, it would not be fair to australian people.

With Samsung, Iphone, Ipad, nothing works and customer service tell me I have to pay to send it back???

I updated my iPhone XS Max to the new iOS 12.1.2 today. Re-installed the Mimo app, but it did not fix the activation.

My final solution was to activate my Osmo Pocket through an iPhone X to a friend of mine. On the same WiFi. Now I can use the Osmo Pocket as a stand alone camera.
Waiting for the Mimo update to connect my own iPhone. Come on DJI, you can do it

none of the solutions described worked for me - after waiting for 3 weeks for delivery  i was unable to activate the pocket osmo.  fast forward many hours of dji support later, dji told me to return it to them for a refund. what a letdown. i hope they get their act together - we won't be featuring the osmo at our band videoshoot after all

What a piece of garbage. First of all its a load of crap that you have to use a phone to register a camera. And second, all I get is activation failed. Time to post a nasty youtube review and send this paperweight back.

Sorry for the confusion. It is recommended to download the iTools on PC, connect with your mobile and then refer to the pathway to export.

BTW, may I know what's the language of your iPhone? You may set the iPhone language to Chinese, English, Korean, Japanese, German or French to verify whether it works, thank you!
