Well,  I was worried that new batts would NOS ( New Old Stock )  But NO,  when the came in, MFG date was Sept 2018 !!
THAT I am happy with!  First cycle I got 14 min each out of new batts....30% landing.

2nd Flight on Batt A-  16 MIN
2ND Flight on Batt B-  17 min.....Both landing at 30%

Keeping in mind,  if I am on a job and need more time than that, I'll set Low Batt Warning #1 at 20%.......#2 at 15%.....generally landing quite quickly.

This can give me 18 to 20 min flight time.  Solid, Comfortable flight time!!  SO yes,  they are still making these batts...TB48s

My Inspire 1 is now a solid backup to my P4Pro......no more " One and Done "

Don't get me wrong,  I can fly from 100% battery on all 4 batteries to 27-28 min at 15% low battery warning.....but that is not safe in all cases.

Risk management is part of this flying drone deal......error on the side of safety!! Always!!

WHOOPS....sorry my bad.  I thought I was replying to a post in the P4Pro forum.   The Inspire with new batteries is only expected to get 16 to 20 min flight time.
That's ok.....wish it was longer, but it's not!!

So Kevin.....an I-1 V1 with the new mounting board, and leg extensions can handle the X5....no issues?

Thx

It should. Yes. Mine is the v2. I'm not sure about the v1 motors and how they would handle the extra weight. I'm sure there's someone else that can verify that for you.

I need to correct myself. I just checked my flight records. The last 3 flights I had were between 14-16 minutes. From 99% to 30%.

Casper,

You and I both......I told my contact I didn't want NOS batteries that were older than 1 year.

NOS ( New Old Stock )

2 cycles and at 16+ min.......to 30%......good to know I can go to 18 min + at 20% " if needed to get home "

The safety margins are so high on these batteries that worrying about getting back to land at 20% is overkill. 10% is my cut off for flying back provided I'm only 1-2 mins away from home. Leaving 30% on a battery is just a waste of flight time imo

Hyper,

It's not the percentage that's the issue.

It's the cell voltages under load that's the issue.  Inspire 1 TB48 specifically

Next time you go to 10% and your flight time is in the 19-21 min range,  while a foot or two off the ground check your cell voltage.  You may see 3.3 to 3.4 VDC/cell, maybe less.......That is when you start damaging the strata inside the cells......reducing the life of your battery.

Casper,

You and I both......I told my contact I didn't want NOS batteries that were older than 1 year.

Randy, I finally checked a couple of dates today. (Kept forgetting to check)

On the last 2 TB48 batteries, bought from same place (B&H), but at separate times, the last one also had a date of sept. 18, and the one I purchased before that was June 18.

Another I purchased from another place maybe 6 months ago was dated Feb. 18.

I normally get13~15 mins. Landing by 30% or before normally (I like to land s o f t l y), so give myself margin, especially if gusty winds.

And yeah I’d love more flight time but if I plan well ahead, I normally don’t get rushed much.

That's great to know!!

Nationally,  there are NEW TB48 batteries being sold.  I was worried because I don't see them on the DJI site any longer.

DJI phases out products from their store when the new come out. pretty soon the Mavic pro and Air wont have stuff there as the Mavic 2 takes over

Hyper,

It's not the percentage that's the issue.

I understand that, and that voltage is really not that low, especially considering its under load. There's more capacity left in the battery than most people think. You are correct that it may be right at the level of starting "damage" (see: degredation) but I consider it negligible. The lost efficiency of landing so early far exceeds the increased cost of purchasing a new battery a few cycles early.

Obviously this can be considered a matter of preference, but it certainly isn't a safety factor as much as it is a preference.

That's more like it, I get about 13 minutes with the X5R, I feel like getting an X3 just to see how it feels to fly the big bird for a couple pf minutes more

Yes, but the M2P is a totally new camera with a Hasselblad brand on it. The P4P is a much better camera in every respect, even has a mechanical shutter which I think it's a first and only on a drone. There have been many claims that the M2P drops frames and DOES NOT use the whole sensor plus takes other shortcuts to prevent overheating. However seems the image processing sensor is quite good (probably where Hasselblad helped) so the image quality is not bad, but not as good as the P4Ps.

I've been wanting to do that believe it or not, the thing is now with all the money invested I might as well have an I2 LOL if I could only sell this one for enough to make it worth going to an I2. My crazy idea is to get a M2 gimbal and install it on the nose LOL
