Is there any way we can draw the attention of DJI on this? It seems ridiculous that they have crippled there authentication to stop fraudsters to the point they are screwing with their legitimate customers.
I am considering taking the damn thing back to the retailer for a refund.
I had spent a whole afternoon upgrading the firmware on both devices which timed out 2-3 times, not a pleasant experience - but it worked in the end. So you can imagine my state of mind when I found the app reporting that the drone is "locked" with no explanation or diagnostic information whatsoever.
DJI support recommened I run the assistant and upgrade (but already on V01.00.1000) So i refreshed it regardless and installed/uninstalled the app. No cigar..
Ok I switched to the spare battery and got a firmware warning. Updated and for the first time didn't see the locked warning. And this is on the new Android 4.3.10
Also did this on a Pixel phone instead of a dedicated Samsung S5 so not sure which of these 3 variables fixed it.
The real test is tomorrow where I try and fly the bird. Thanks to everyone for their help
