What is the range of the drone? im only getting around 80 meters (260 feet) away at an altitude of 70 meters (230 feet). It says 2 kilometers but I cant even get 200 meters...

In city area, mine is same range to your. My city uses CE mode which only has short range. In areas use FCC mode such as USA, longer range can reach! So for Spark review presented in say YouTube, don’t be misleaded by the reviewer who tested the Spark in FCC area.

You need to be flying in FCC mode if you want to go far.
My best is 3531 meters one way, I think that 4km is easily achievable with the Spark, I came back with 20% battery left.

Hi there, thank you for reaching out and we're sorry to hear about the trouble. About your concern when you flying your Aircraft make sure you're not on the City or location that has a lot of interference and you can check as well if you region using the FCC/CE compliance for the specification of the Range you can check this screenshot below.

If your country is coming under CE then the maximum distance would be 300m for 5 GHz and 500m for 2.4 GHz as per DJI spec but I am lucky to get far as 100m without loosing the signal (in the UK).
I use a pair of parabolic signal booster to extend the range. It’s not the best but improves the range.

I found that it depends on the device and the OS you use.  I use the RC either way, but found that I got approximately 1000 ft with my android device running Android 8.0.   I got over 7000 ft using my iPhone with iOS 12.  I live in a pretty densely populated area near Cleveland, Ohio with ALOT of WIFI interference.  

Do you have the remote controller? The wifi of your phone alone is advertised as 100 meters, but this is in optimal conditions. If you do have the remote, in europe the range is severly limited, to about 300 meter. With heavy interferrance it could be less than 100 if you are unlucky. Try it on an open and remote location, and chose a 2.4 ghz for maximum range. 2.4 ghz will have a worse immage transmission, so keep that in mind.

The range can be up to 2000m and even further, if your bird is in FCC
In CE I made it not often over 500m, but always over 100/200, for sure
It may be a connection problem.
Don't you have a picture on your device, or does your remote deconnect?
If 1.  change the device to one with higher specs, for a test
If second, and you use otg cable already, it gets difficult!
Check a different area, may "just"  be interferences!

I tested mine in an open area and it went 2100 meters with the RC of course. Depending on where you’re flying also. In the city it got me around 1000 meters more or less. And that without any range extender or OTG cable, just WiFi connection.
