Anyone knows if I can put the gimbal protector with a filter on? Or I have to take it back every time I want to store my mavic air?

With regards to your question, Unfortunately, we don't recommend to have the Gimbal Protector when using the Aircraft since this may lead to Gimbal motor overload, we would recommend to have it on the Aircraft when transporting or storing the Aircraft to protect the Gimbal for further movement. Yes, on the Mavic Air, you can put the gimbal protector over the filter.

Oh yeah, leaving your filter on wont hurt anything. I do it with my MA and M2Z and never had issue.
