Hello,

Where is your Thermal Analysis Software? DJI when there is no software we can do nothing whit the camera than only look for cows and horses! And where is the app like DroneSense from flir????

I'm interested too. But as long as they do not allow you to export RAW or JPEG images with a fixed palette, no software can give you a result

Hi,
Is there any software that could help analyzing the thermal images taken from Mavic 2 Enterprises Dual.
All the software (including flir tool) are recognizing it as RGB (.jpg) image with no temprature data.

If there is no software...then this drone is good for nothing.

Answer from FLIR:

Hello Thomas,
I am not too familiar with the DJI Mavic drones but I do know that the Xenmuse XT have to be setup to take radiometric images, otherwise the images are flat with no temperature data.

Could you please check the save settings on the Drone and make sure they are set to take radiometric jpg files and then test some new images in Tools?

Hello Thomas,
I am sorry but I am not familiar with the DJI Mavic so it may be best to speak with DJI as they have designed the drone.

I know for a fact the DJI Xenmuse XT  is capable of recording jpg files with Radiometric data.

Andrew Lohmer

from today, so it would be great to have a statement from DJI.

i saw a youtube video from the CES in this clip, and it seems like the guy is a official FLIR guy says that we both launch the drone.

Answer from FLIR:

Hello Thomas,

There is no way to safe the files with that info in it with the Mavic duo.I think it's posible to program it in by DJI, i think DJI will not program it in the files for a lot of reasons!.......
Sensor is so little that it's not a good 'tempature' camera, only good for live viewing and thats it, safe the files to look at it when you are back, no info in it, only look at the diference what is hot or cold.I also do not expect DJI will answer or react on this.....

Simple  FLIR Duo (retails  for $900) records radiometric JPEG and all metadata that can be analyzed in FLIR Tools. That is the same camera  sourced for M2ED (same thermal sensor, same optical sensor, same framerate, etc) so I do not have a clue why DJI doesn't provide at least minimum and maxium temperature and linear pallete (so JPGs can can get analyzed in Matlab if not FLIR software)

DJI is slepping or think, ah let the stupid duo buyers get lost

Forget it, i sell the thing and hope someone will buy it, not knowing you can do NOTING with the dual stuf junk

They will come with a answer like: oh sorry the prosessor is not capable of doing that to!

It is my understanding that the FLIR Duo R is required to take radiometric (temperature) measurements from a thermograph.  That camera looks like it was discontinued but it was up in the $3K plus range.   It looks to me like all FLIR cameras need the (-R) on the model name to get those readings.  I seriously doubt that the Mavic camera is capable of taking these readings.  It would cost about 3X (or more) than what it is now.  It appears to be a low res thermal camera and that is it.

Please note that Duo-R was officially priced 1299$, while plain Duo is 999$.
Still, even plain Duo is eqiped with linear pallete and can be set to fixed themperature range, so that all photos get comparable...
Finally, I will not mention competing brand and model, which is capable of tilting camera not just downwards but upwards 90degrees as well - thst model uses same Lepton sensor and has linear pallete and manual range and comparable photos...
So, it doesn't take much to make it right.

I think that the thermal camera inside the M2E is able to capture jpg-r but Dji plan is to attract us with the M2E dual with low resolution etc to hope that we do the next step to buy the  high price models. Ok that’s business, but the thing that makes me angry about this situation is, a lot of people aks about this feature and nothing happens, no answer from DJI, but if you show some drone picture in the forum you got a official answer from DJi very fast. So people from DJI please give us an answer! Thanks

I think the answer is:  you get what you pay for.  Thermal cameras are very expensive, the good ones anyway.  The low resolution versions are thermal - sure - but the quality of the image is so poor that trying to glean any kind of useful data from them is futile.  If you want good quality radiometric thermographs, your talking up in the $10K range minimum for equipment that flies.

The thing is not the resolution, do you know the M2E dual, I don’t think so, i own on and the resolution is low but you can see and measure stuff and you can buy a clip on Flur cam for mobile devices with the same resolution and theses camera is able to capture jpg-r.

The M2ED camera subsystem is based on a FLIR DUO R. As seen in post #17 the original FLIR DUO system is capable of recording RJPG.
The question is: Why had DJI not implemented this basic feature? Will it (recording RJPG) be available at some point?

Can i ask you, whether DJI plans to bring SW upgrade for M2ED users to save radiometric jpegs compatible with other Flir thermal imaging cameras for further analysis in Flir Tools+ or at least in some DJI SW for basic editation of saved rjpegs as it is for example at Parrot Bebop Pro Thermal drone which costs like 1/2 of M2ED? When we bought M2ED with integrated Radiometric FLIR® Thermal Sensor we supposed to save full rjpeg and we would really appreciate this upgrade. Thanks for answer.

It seems that DJI secretly is planning to release some kind of analysis tool.
Since a few days an additional section in the support/download area appeared.

The software (Thermal Analysis Software) looks like FLIR tools. (and with fewer features)
I am wondering why DJI is trying to invent the wheel twice, it would make more sense to simply enabling R-JPG on the M2ED ...
