Hi all,

Today I lost my Spark, I went up and due to strong wind I couldnt get it return to home.
The last sign is the GPS signal I got, see picture.

What does that mean? When does the Spark loses the GPS signal? When it lands or when it is still in the air and goes down?

Thanks, I know the spot where the GPS stopped. I just want to know if this is the place where the Spark touched the ground or last signal in the air?

It shows the coordinates where signal was lost, check the flight log if you want to find out the altitude at the time. With the Spark, fly VLOS only, it gives you a better idea where to search. Wishing you luck in finding your copter!

It's the last place the drone had gps. try to find the altitude where it was in the log. It probably went into atti mode after that. You said there was wind so try looking for it in the direction of the wind.

When it went in atti mode it was still 100 meters high... descending with 10 km/h

What position is "find my drone" telling you, in the Go4 app?
Check that first, I'd say

I see something abnormal in this log. When it started "Go home" mode, the drone continued to fly away from Home point. What did you do around 03.52? Do you try return the drone to HP?
A minute after that, on 04.40 the mode "Go Home" was ended and Sport mode started. The drone continued fly farther from HP even it was pointed in opposide direction to its movement.

05.23 appeared a message "Speed error". 05.37 "Go home" mode started again with message "Low power. Aircraft is returning to HP". But continued to fly in opposide direction

06.06 "Downlink restored". Drone had an absence of connection for 10 seconds. 06.54 Critically low Battery. Auto Landing from 965 ft. But altitude didn't change. At 06.57 was appeared a new message "RTH now" but mode still Auto Landing. An altitude started to decrease but drone continued to fly away from HP. Speed rose.

It was the complete flight in sport mode. I lost connection a few times. I don’t remember exactly but the first time connection came back it said it was returning home but did not came back so I cancelled and try to fly home manually.

I checked the area where last signal was recorded but it was still at 100 meters high. Drone was not there. It is private property so I couldn’t inspect very good

07.13-07.52 connection was absent. Speed remained, altitude droped. Distance rose.
At this POINT the drone continued to descend quite fast and distance was changed a little (40ft) without any changing direction

Look, direction of the drone in the moment of loosing connection was in side of the "white palm" on the screen. If it's a little pond or canal, it is bad news((

Hi Ricardo,

had a look at your flight.

Too much wind at high altitude! btw, 120 meter altitude is the limit, your flight at 409 meters....

First GoHome : heading drone ok, but did fly backwards. (distance from 422 to 559 meter)
You did cancel RTH and lowered height after that, but no action to bring Spark closer to home.

Second GoHome due to Smart battery action. Heading to home OK but distance increases, flying backwards again.
Flying at 294 meter height it take some time to land, so an autolanding started at 22% batt level.
Due to the wind distance increases from 782 to 1076 meters. Last height 101 meters with 17 batt level.

Last seconds of the flight the distance almost remains the same, so landing spot is kind of known....where the yellow line stops....

Ok, what went wrong?
1) flying to high
2) flying with too much wind for a Spark
3) at first GoHome, check distance in the App, seeing that the distance did not decrease, immediately action is CX RTH (you waited 50 seconds), lower height !(less wind in general) and in Sport mode fully fwd back home. check hdg to home in compass and check distance is now (slowly) decreasing.


If the connection fails between Spark and RC, a RTH is started. Your GPS signals to the Sprark were OK, just connection loss.You did start this flight with zero GPS reception and low sat count. That`s why your HP was recorderd after 7.9 seconds in flight.
My advice is to wait for more sats and good reception.

yes, it is
green = take off point
numbers = batt level * 10
X = partly or full disconnection
line colours - flight mode

Thank you actually for your program and for your work to comunity. Yesterday I used it for my own log to learn some messages, that appeared during a flight. The program is really useful. I didn't notice the possibility of tracking a flight, but I will look it certainly, it's helpful indeed. Thank you again.

JBB, Thanks for your thorough analysis! You mentioned 2 mistakes, you're right, Too High and too much wind. I have to add another one, I was flying in the dark so that was bad for orientation. I just wanted to let it up in the sky and make a round to film the lights but the wind took it too far. Good and expensive lesson.

Hi ricardo,

Mayby more 'mistakes' than just 2.....uh, take off with no GPS lock for instance.

Main mistake was doing noting at the first RTH.
After the first RTH ; if you had bring your Spark down to about 40 meters and fly back home manually than you probably still had your Spark! (doesn`t matter if its dark or not )

Practise to fly back home using the little round attitide/compass indicator in the GO app.

BTW be carefull posting flights with height above 120 meter. It`s so easy to find out to whom belongs a drone these days.
Where i live local police visited drone flyers at their home adresses ; they had posted on their facebook account really great but illegal (area-wise) videos.

Hi All,
Months after loosing the Spark someone came to return it! They recognized my house on the video's on the sd card. The drone is unrepairable im afraid. It had been somewhere in the grass for months with rain. I thin also a tractor ran over it or something.
It was found 100 meters backwards against the wind. I never checked there! So it was trying to go home.
The SD card with the video's is still intact but the last video of the fatal flight seems to be corrupt unfortunately....

I am glad that you found her at last, even if in such a sorry state. have you tried to light her up and see if anything works?
