Hello, forgive me if the question has been asked, however is there any reason a 512GB U3 / V30 SD card cannot be used in the Osmo Pocket? Despite on the specs is says MicroSD Max Capacity: 256 GB?

Thank you in advance

Hi, thanks for the inquiry. Osmo Pocket supports a maximum of 256GB SDXC card, the transmission speed should be at least UHS-1 with the writing speed 20 MB/s or higher. We recommend our customers can use the SD card with writing speed reach to 30MB/s in order to get high performance. You may also check our recommended SD cards below. Please let us know if you have other concerns.

Yes, I did it with a Lexar 512GB U3 V30 and it's ok : 460 GB (because of the bit/Byte conversion) ;-)

I use samsung evo 256gb and I couldn’t fill it up half way even with 5 day trip in 4K video.
So I wonder what it would take to fill up 512gb.

Same think I ... my 256 GB card never runs full ... but if someone thinks he needs  512 GB ...
let him buy ... next year he will cry for 16.384 GB.

SDUC cards can have up to 128 TB  ... 16 TB / 16.384 GB are small, 512 GB are tinytiny.

Isn't that equivalent to around twelve hours of video for the Osmo Pocket working at 1080p?

I tried it with a Lexar 512. I was not successful. I’d only use a card of that size for a multi day time lapse.

I think what a lot of us are wondering is why?  Is there a technical reason that it cannot support more, and is it firmware based?  ie it may go up in the future?  Cards get much bigger and are going to get much much cheaper so it seems like a hamstrung system for no reason.

Could you elaborate on why this is so?

For $500.00 you can get a 1TB microSD card.

I think they were not designed for larger than 256 to protect the camera from heat from long shoots and long time-lapse stuff.

You don't want, in my oh so humble decision to have that many hours on one memory card. If you loose it, or it get's damaged that's a real issue. People, please don't store your photos and videos, etc on SD cards. They are designed to be written and then dumped to your computer.

Be smart.

Hey everyone,

Has there been any success with the 1TB cards? I need to shoot continuously overnight in 4K and the large card will do the trick if it works.

Thanks in advance.

From the post immediately preceding your's:

"I think they were not designed for larger than 256 to protect the camera from heat from long shoots and long time-lapse stuff."

Then there is the power issue ... That will heat things up too.
