Compass gives accurate readings of both true north and magnetic north, and both are valid indications. True north, which is a GPS bearing linked to the geographical location of the North Pole, works when Location Services is turned on. ... To turn on true north, tap Settings→Compass and then tap Use True North on.
I think by default true north is disabled.
The phone does not use its compass when flying the spark. The Spark is using its own GPS chip and compass
Hiya,
The DJI GO 4 app uses compass info from your mobile device!
It is used for the compass indicator left bottom on the screen.
Red arrow gets info from compass drone and the outer ring gets info from the mob device.
So if both compasses are correct the NORTH sign is pointing to the real world NORTH and the red arrows shows the correct heading on the compass od the drone.
If you watch several YT videos you see that not always the both compasses are aligned OK.If compass Drone is OK than pointing red arrow to the center means flying back home (to the RC/device), but if the mobile device compass is wrongly calibatrated than the outer ring is NOK meaning than you don`t know where to look in the sky where your drone is flying (if not in LOS)
Only if the red arrow is moving around (thus not a steady indication) while on the ground or on hover after takeoff it tells you that there is something wrong with your drone compass.
cheers
JJB
