I am traveling to China (Beijing and Changsha airports) from San Francisco, U.S via Air China and planning on bringin my Mavic Air + 2 spare batteries. Does anyone have any experience crossing the customs in China and SFO U.S with drones? Will they allow it? I have heard some people getting their drones confiscated. Couldn't find any consistent or reliable information documenting this type of stuff. Any insight will be appreicated, thanks.

Pack them in your carry on.  Discharge batteries to half if you are worried they will give you a rough time about them, usually don’t though.   Other than that you should be fine.
