The Inspire 1 V2.0 that I own was released in November 2015 and remained on the market until Decmeber 2018 with the Mavic 2 Pro being released in August 2018 - that's less than three years difference in the developement of the hardware though FW updates continued on the Inspire 1 until July 2017. Well, it's more my intuition as an engineer than knowledge based on documented facts. Inspire 1 (which I owe from the day one and still enjoy) was a breakthrough piece of technology, probably a result of at least 2-3 years of development. There's no other quadcopter of this kind, not even a kick-off. Whatever happen after was based on this experience. New birds, models, improvements, tweaks, upgrades, releases happening more often and faster than ever before. Therefore I still believe that 4-5 years is a reasonably estimated period of time between the birth of Inspire and Mavic concept. Which - for change - has traces of Phantom family blood in veins. It's complicated, needless to say ... |
